Wendy Williams diagnosed with aphasia and dementia

Representatives for daytime talk show host Wendy Williams revealed she has a condition that impacts her ability to communicate and understand language. A documentary she produced about it will be released soon.

My dad died from that type of Dementia...at the end he could not talk, eat or take his meds...it was so sad to see how in the last 6 months of his life how he changed...he was a preacher. R.I.P. daddy.

This lady should be honored for all the good she's done, the happiness she's added to the world, & the joy she's been for those who love her, not vilified for demonstrating symptoms consistent with diagnosed illnesses. When her mind was sharp, she rewrote the world around her. Now, we need to rewrite the world to be kind to her.

I'm not a fan of talk shows. But I've always really liked her. She is truthful and keeps it real. I sincerely wish her the best! One of the very few celebrities I can say that about! She is a public figure coming forward and opening up about conditions that negatively impact our beloved elders.
Wendy Williams is a brave woman. I hope dementia can begin to be destigmatized by more open public discussions. My father (with the complicity of his current wife. He has no children with her) has refused to share his diagnosis with the family rest of the family. It is obvious.
His 3 siblings? No clue. His 2 children. No clue.
Dementia sufferers should not feel the need to hide a diagnosis.

You never know what kind of curve balls life is going to throw at you and dementia is one the cruelest of them all. My mother has dementia and over the past couple of years I've been showing possible early signs of cognitive decline.
Its always sad to hear about a celebrity who's been diagnosed with dementia but in a tiny way it's a good thing because it really does help to raise awareness.
