I use it in the summer for a cover crop in our food plots.
It's really good for soil because it adds alot of nutrients and smothers out weeds, then we follow up with winter rye in early September so we can have some nice greens throughout the winter and weeks before spring greenup.

I've never used a cover crop, but my son does in his garden.

Great video. Buckwheat is my go to covercrop. The speed at which it germinates and grows is amazing. One thing you didnt mention. If you let it go until it flowers for a few days, and then mow it, it wont grow back. It blows all of its root energy to make flowers.

I planted it at my old house, but it didn’t come up well. My dirt there was so terrible. I need to try it again at my new house because it looks like a great cover crop.
