I went on a mission trip to Haiti many years ago right before the earthquake and saw that Haitians make art everywhere without even thinking about making money at it. They just love doing it and expressing themselves. I bought several paintings being sold in a park there. They were small enough to take home in my luggage. There were painters and sculptors all over the place. Someone should sell it online.

There is more to the Caribbean cutltural lexicon and heritage histories and it is rooted in stories told by Haitian artists since the early 1900. World renouned Renaissance artist Caribbean's Geoffrey Holder had held Hatian art and stories in high esteem. His fraternal relationship with artist/ houngan Hector Hypolite inspired his creaton of "The Prodigal Prince" a visual choreography for Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre' AAADT - In the first staging of the Prodigal Prince in 1968, America's legendary Madame of Dance Judith Jamison would be cast as the goddess of love, Erzulie – like the Virgin Mary, with Miguel Godreau as Hyppolite. I am david Boothman a nephew and mentee of Holder. Geoffrey had turned me on to Haitian Art and it's artists since early 60s. Thanks for this great reminder. 🔥
