Head of one of the most powerful and notorious gangs in Port-au-Prince, Jimmy Cherizier, also known as 'Barbecue' has spoken to Sky News.

The mobster is the leader of a gang called the G9 Family and Allies.

For the first time Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cherizier says he is prepared to talk peace - but only if he's given a seat at the table. He says 'if the international community comes with a detailed plan where we can sit together and talk, but they do not impose on us what we should decide, I think the weapons could be lowered'.

dude actually is making alot of sense. he stated "the wealth divide between rich and poor is too much. In Haiti that divide is indecent." sounds like a regular dude who just got fed up.

He makes real sense because the problem we have today in the world especially in developing countries are bad politicians destroying their people.

Peter Tosh said it best” everyone is calling out for peace, none is calling out for justice. I need equal rights and justice”

One of the very first unbiased reportage about the situation.I think the reporter really took his time to understand the reality here and for this, congratulations.

BBQ is an ex-police officer, who has taken arms to address the intentional oversight by those in power, who now call him a gang leader. When I listen with out judgment, I hear a man who is looking for peace, who will use the gun if it comes down to it.

I don't know this man or his history, but based on this interview, he comes off as a rational man who wants better for his people and community. He also spoke how he and others for the last 2-3 yrs. have tried to get there needs and situation addressed, only to get the run around. This method may seem crude to many, however respect is earned, not always given. I pray that Hati comes to an amicable solution, and that the rebuilding of the entire community can take place.

Really proud of Sky News for showing the truth. No fake subtitles to distort what he’s saying… bravo for honest reporting

I'm a Kenyan and from the start I haven't been in support of Kenyan police being sent to Haiti. I believe Hatians themselves have the solutions to what's troubling them and that's political oligarchs.

That's very true, Haiti isn't normal. Barbeque is the result of decades of oppression in a systemically neglected country.😔

At this point I’m not sure if BBQ the good guy or bad guy because the few Oligarchs in Haiti also have a huge part to play in Haiti’s destruction
