As far as I know, Farcry did it's best to choose the correct animations for the situation. Getting shot would make pull or wedge out a bullet, a fight with a wild animal would have bandage some scratch marks and lastly, if you fell, you would get a bone relocating animation. But sometimes, the game wouldn't recognize this, and you would pull a bullet out after being bitten by a couger.

Farcry's healing reminds me of a scene in Major Panye where one of his fellow soldiers has been shot in the arm, so Payne breaks his hand and says "Works everytime." While the guy is screaming about his hand.
