Top 5 facts about the Comet Halley, that you should know!
1) Halley is often called the most famous comet, because it marked the first time astronomers understood comets could be repeat visitors to our night skies.
2) Halley was last seen in Earth's skies in 1986 and will return in 2061 on its regular 76-year journey around the Sun.
3) Halley's dimensions are about 15 by 8 kilometers, and also it is one of the darkest, or least reflective, objects in the solar system.
4) Halley's backward, or retrograde, motion is unusual among short-period comets, as its greatest distance from the Sun is beyond the orbit of Neptune.
5) With each orbit around the Sun, a comet the size of Halley loses an estimated 3 to 10 feet of material from the surface of its nucleus.

If I lived to see it again I will be 83. 1986 I was just a kid and didn't appreciate it enough or interested me I was too busy playing outside climbing trees walking way out in the woods catching snakes and other little critters, especially turtles, I would walk the roads to see any and to rescue them from getting ran over and I would take them way out to a natural spring water that was so shallow your big toe wouldn't go under the water much. But I already knew they are ground turtles and don't swim about in water the ones I saved mostly was box turtles. This man that lived fairly close to a pond would try a trap snapping turtles or he would go out and get them and put them in his man made pond beside his house and he would keep them there and then eventually he would kill them and grill and eat them and me being a animal lover I would sneak out there when he go to town and go and take them put them in a plastic tote like container sort of and run like hell avoiding the his and snaps from old Bowser luckily he was small and manageable. I wouldn't take him to the same pond where he was before that old man got him. I went way out on protected forests around and close to where I live and release it close to a natural pond which was just shy of being a lake and I said it was because of how clean looking it was and not algae alone the shores all around it. Let him free then went home. He caught a huge one. It was the size of a manhole sewer cover, and one that was way bigger, about the size of a hulahoop is diameter. I didn't see it alive but anyone that came up he would show that off. He was a lonely man and no one ever went to see him so when I went over there he brag about it and show it off. He was such a nice person, but I hated what he was doing with the turtles. He explained they are mean and aggressive so he didn't feel guilty for killing them.. when I look back on that I didn't know that when they are that big they have lived for a very long time. I'm guessing 100 yrs give or take a few. Guess he wanted trophies like what deer hunters do with putting their heads on their wall. Yep they like to put dead taxidermy animals on the wall. So they are kinda looking like red flags for serial killers in a way. But serial killers of animals. Serial killers love to keep trophies of the murder victims, well... Deer hunters or like that man keeps them if dead animals. And of course all legal.
