Important to remember, you can outgrow them or they can get worse with age. Make sure to do tests in a safe manner with medical supervision.

You can also develop new allergies and asthma as you get older🥳

My daughter had a dairy allergy as a baby. At two years old we did some broad allergy tests and she grew out of it! Such a relief.

I actually grew out of my asthma after 30 years of dealing with it. So many tests and specialists to confirm it. But I am so grateful for the second opportunity at life.

When I was younger, I had a condition called cold urticaria. Ater touching something really cold my skin would swell and I'd break out in hives. Even eating something cold would cause my lips, tongue, and throat to swell. Thankfully I grew out of it!

Before puberty, I used to have terrible allergies. Every May I'd have to visit the emergency room for full body breakouts due to pollen. Long exposure to cats and dogs could also send me to the hospital. Now I own a cat with zero symptoms. So blessed for this

My dad was born with Chronic asthma. He joined the Army and served incredibly for 20 years. His best running feat was 10 miles in 57 minutes. He technically does still has Asthma, but the last time he used his inhaler was maybe 10 years ago, and was able to workout to overcome it and be much more fit than people in the same profession and perfect medical history.

As someone who had asthma I can confirm that you can definitely outgrow it especially through a very healthy lifestyle.

I outgrew my allergies to pet dander and asthma at 50 years of age - an amazing gift. Turned out I had a slow progressing leukemia, a cancer growing in my bone marrow that had the benefit of tuning down my immune response. I got diagnosed at 57 and went through chemo which destroyed the cancer and my immune system. I'm 59, cancer-free, strong immune system, and my allergies and asthma are back - though not as bad as it used to be.

In my youth I had severe form of asthma. So much so that I had to change my schoolclass because my first ones steady classroom was on the second floor. But in my teenage-years my astma just stopped and never came back. I´m so happy for it.

I had a friend in school who was told that he’d outgrown asthma, and was now free to do whatever he wanted. He died of an asthma attack in P.E. When they were running. The P.E. Teacher, also our math teacher, did CPR on him, until the ambulance arrived. He never even survived to the hospital. He was 13 years old.

My sister has a genuine penicillin allergy. She nearly died as a child, but then she nearly died again as an adult when doctors gave her penicillin derived antibiotics in an emergency situation. She was unconscious and didn’t have her chart stating she was allergic to penicillin. Luckily they saw that she was going into anaphylactic shock and fixed the situation.

ICU nurse here: people also often don't know the difference between an adverse reaction and an allergy. Or between adverse reactions and side effects. True allergies to medications are very rare.

My favorite example is people who list Benadryl as an allergy or adverse reaction and the detail says "groggy" or "sleepy" lol".

My elderly, former RN, Aunt is utterly convinced she grew out of her asthma. It’s something that’s so psychologically important to her it doesn’t matter how many Doctors tell her she still has it. It didn’t go away, it just changed in severity.
She also refused to believe my allergy to citrus fruit was real. Until the day she sliced a lemon when I was walking through her kitchen…

I outgrew my asthma but still retained the benefits from treatment and training, which has led to me having a 170% lung efficiency and being able to easily hold my breath for 2-3 minutes without breaking a sweat. My pneumologist was very proud when we found out, she said she rarely gets the chance to actually heal patients, usually it's more about alleviating symptoms.

It’s true! It’s been on my medical records since I was young that I was allergic to penicillin. I went into the military with a listed penicillin allergy. One day my doctor told me the same thing about people growing out of penicillin allergies and referred me to get tested. Saw the allergist, they confirmed that day that I had no signs of a penicillin allergy.
