This silicone mold making tutorial explains how to pour a silicone mold and how to cast resin, of a designer toy sculpted with super sculpey. It gives an overview of the design and construction of a three piece silicone mold. Here are some links to some of the materials and tools in the video:

This is one of my more complex molds. Part one of this video series shows how I sculpted the cloud figure and made the cast metal lightning bolts. This silicone mold actually has the metal bolts lock inside, so they become embedded in the resin during the casting process. I explain different processes and materials used - laying up the mold with a super sculpey polymer clay, creating a mold box, using baby powder as a release, adding air vents, mixing the silicone rubber, degassing the silicone, and pressure casting the resin. A lot of tips and tricks in this one.
I have a handful of other videos in the "Sculpture Tutorials" and "Designer Toy Tutorials" Playlists of more how to stuff concerning molds and resin casting. And a video showing some small metal casting of a C3PO head. And more tutorials in the pipeline that do a deep dive into the specifics of this stuff. Part three will be a tutorial that cover the painting of the sculpture. Feel free to check them out.

I discovered one more bonus of the baby powder. It draws resin in to areas that might normally hold a bubble during each and every pour.

I'm now casting my resin figure successfully each and every time. You saved my butt, thank you!

Hello! could you make a video tutorial explaining how to color this resin? Thanks!

Do you have to seal the foam core with something?

Hi Mr Ferrera! 1-Do you make silicon mold for customers? 2- Is resin fire or heat resistant? for example for a little sculpture as an incense holder? Thank you.

Could you put links to the same products on amazon.ca? Some sellers won't ship to Canada since it is considered a chemical.

Thanks dude. What material do you suggest works well to make a silicone mold from?
Would air dry clay be ok? Or eva high density foam? Im carving a handle for a sword.

I want to make a mold I can pour epoxy resin into. Thanks very much

Fantastic tutorial! 😀👍 I’m still working out the air bubble issue. Is it possible to still make a bubble free mold without a vacuum chamber? I’ve seen people brush on a bit of silicone onto the original before slowly pouring the silicone from a high distance to prevent air bubbles. 🤔

I made some mold in my refrigerator, does that count?

Do you use something between silicon parts so they don’t stick to each other?

So if I didn’t use a vacuum chamber or the pressure pot, would it always mess up my cast? I’m just about to start mold making but I’m afraid I’m going to ruin the sculpture I’m making

Do you need to coat the mold after its dry with anything before applying the other layers?
-I don't mean baby powder for the resin, but rather the initial mold side pouring.

Awesome vid!
