I'm editing a video right where I needed to extend a mold's funnel, and I used silicone putty for that. I also sometimes use it to make impression stamps for clay. I can't say I've ever used it for a casting and your video makes it pretty clear why.

Bob, it’s always a good thing to know your limitations. You tried and it wasn’t a total loss because you succeeded in learning what you can and can’t use the silicone for. We are always learning and when we stop learning I guess it’s the end. Best regards, Richard

This might be one of the most authentic videos I've ever seen on mold making / crafting. "I guessed how much to mix, but it turned out way too little." "I glued it down, then realized I had to break it off that and try again." "And finally I ripped the mold a bit taking it off".

I feel like this is exactly what my workshop day feels like sometimes haha

My brain just started flashing destroying monster clay sculptures tearing them out of one of those. But I aimed it at patching molds (after you said it'll bond to, similar, rubber), I bet I could come up with a dozen or two ways to fall in love with this stuff.
As always Thank You

I'm experimenting with covering molds like this with thermoplastic. Its cheap, sets fast and even a thin layer is very strong. Can have separate into 2 pieces if using a thin line of Vaseline.

Hi,
You can use this kind of silicone putty to create a 2 or plus part mould. When cured it doesnt stick to itself (if it's the same a had used to make mold for playmobile birthday candle for my niece and nephew). Always inspirating to watch your videos. amateurs can make so many things watching your and others videos. Go on !!!

This stuff is not made for casting, unless pressed together in a frame. But it is brilliant to make hard shells etc. for cradels
to hold molds or tools. Get some decent dental grade rubber that cures in minutes, not that overprized stuff.

It’s interesting to see your rubber slumping. When I use a two-part putty, it always sets up too quickly and it is hard. What am I doing wrong?

A video from you and your daughter in the same week! Week 5 of being laid off is a little bit better now.

maybe it can be used to save a damaged mold?

So is silicone putty just a market version of Proto putty? Granted that stuff looked much more fluid without being a sticky nightmarish mess.

I hear ai noise cancelation in the intro and outro takes. Not too bad if you had just the camera mic working. Sounds profesionalish but unnatural (audio video sync is bad).
And as always, thanks for your silicone wisdom.

I can safely say that I've never seen so much silicone putty used at once and on so large an object 😂
