It would be cool to see modern 3d remakes of the old top down fallout games, just a different style over the same story would make a pretty big difference in how the gameplay feels

I also started with Fallout 3. Loved that and New Vegas. Then I played Fallout 1 about 10 years ago. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't for the gameplay. I just liked the story elements because, for me, it was like getting to see a prequel of a movie franchise I like.

I played fallout 1 and 2 not even that long ago, and they're still quite enjoyable with really great stories, and the combat is perfectly acceptable. It just sounds like you are much more conditioned to newer FPS games

Sorry mate but if Fallout 1 and 2 are not your cup of tea, then you’re just bad at it. Asking Bethesda to touch such a classic masterpiece will just result in a pile of trash on a game that is actually good. I played Fallout 1 for the first time in 2021 and It entertained me very much.

I think fallout 1 and 2 hold up really well actually. Theyre old as hell so its hard to get into them if youre used to modern first person games, but i play a lot of crpgs and i just love games like OG fallout and planescape torment. If 1 and 2 were to get remade, id like to see it be done in collaboration with inXile in the same vein as the new wasteland games so they keep some of the original feel. Although I'm fine sticking with the originals, there is just so much soul in those games.

Fallout 1 and 2 are completely good but that does not mean it holds up

They aren’t nearly as clunky as people say . I’m a youngin and I just sat down and put over 45 hours on fallout 1 alone yes it was a slight learning curve but it’s not much different then me playing a adventure game when i was 5-6 in early 2000 . The biggest issues is not having a put all caps or put up all items and make followers move outta the way. Otherwise it a very straightforward and logical experience and EXTREMELY FUN the atmosphere is par to non only thing close is a custom DND board and quest from a friend DM . that’s legit how the games play like you are a solo dnd gamer playing a prefab world looking at objects asking questions(and once i thought of my character how I would in a DND setting I was fucking both feet wet and immersed . Hell even the premade characters even Ooze authenticity in the world . Also most of the ideas and concepts/ animations or quirks would be 100 percent lost in translation in remakes and the whole 1950s style is done better in these games then any. It brought back crp fro a reason and I don’t think you could ever put the games in a different perspective and have it would work there’s just a charm to the whole thing even down to the final lines in the credits .

The world and the writing hold up. The UI and gameplay do not hold up at all.

Funny that you should reference A Wasteland game. The original was the inspiration for Fallout

I mean, it's still good if you can handle a turn based game. I started with new Vegas myself, but still quite enjoyed 1 and 2

New Vegas should get a remake so that more people will play it

Fallout 3 does not need a remake, Fallout 1 and 2 does, and keep most of the original stories and lore.✌

Clunky... yes, definitely... but boring? No, not from what I recall personally...
I'd say they should try making another one in the style similar to the original (isometric)ones
(there was one planned in parallel with 3rd as I recall, but it didnt pan out 😢),
like the recent Hades, or something like that...
or a new MMO... with a more definitive, more acutely _felt_ approach to the RPG aspect... even the Star Trek MMO and EVE Online did that better than 76...
hell...
I was gonna say something about it being similar to GTA(O)...
but even that wasn't as annoying for me personally... except some, minor, people/player things/trifles 😅
or go full throttle on Enclave and take things the way of Space Engineers, taking a level in (Mine)Crafting...
or get a crossover on Days to Die... but with a more Infamous/We Happy Few aesthetic to it 👌
that would've been enough to appease me at least 😅

Do NOT let Bethesda adapt 1 and 2. They will almost certainly retcon stuff due to fears of criticism, offense, and political correctness.

Sometimes games aren’t meant to be remade.

Fallout 1 and 2 do hold up. You have just been trained by the AAA industry for instant gratification.

Fallout 1 and 2 has great characters but need to go first person
