Let's think about the Netherlands in WW2.
'We' had everyone neatly registered. When Hitler decided to kill all people who had a certain type of personal history, it was so easy to locate these people here, that the Netherlands have the highest percentage of people who were arrested, shipped off (trains all ran on time) and killed. Over 70% of non-Nazi-proof people were killed.
In Italy, where fascism was much more evidently present than in the Netherlands, the bureaucracy was such a mess that 'their' number of arrested and killed people was surprisingly low. About 10% of non-Nazi-proof people were killed.

I know where I would prefer to live. Not in bureacratic heaven Holland. In messy Italy!
The Dutchies knew that they were easy to track down. But they wrote to each other in letters: I didn't do anything wrong. Let them find me - what are they going to do? I'm safe.

If anyone who was powerful enough decided to kill all people who wear glasses or who have an opinion: today it's even easier to track you down. Where would you hide? How would you survive (without internet)? If you are out of sight, your heat will be detected. Your friends have all the means to constantly try to reach you (to show you a funny picture of a kitten).

What do you think?

No worries, it was hidden behind the Show More tab so it's not easy to see. And it really illustrates how quickly this stuff is evolving -- by the time we write, shoot, edit and upload a video the stuff we think of as "the Future" is much closer. It's actually pretty awesome.

Any visual, audio, text or data record of, by or about me needs my permission to be kept or made public. If I allow an organization to have a specific or blanket permission, that is my decision, but that permission must be made clear and explicit. If states or other organizations make it a legal requirement to monitor, record, keep, share, or broadcast my behaviourt, I want to be convinced it's important. There should be no passing on without my explicit permission each time. Am I mad?

There's an article, well, specialist about getting off the grid, who used to work for the FBI and catching guys. Totally different process.

Agreed, but the video emphasized video taken by the general population. Even without the government, the same results would take place just by the absurd amount of webcams, phone cameras, dashcams, etc.

Every breath you take

Every move you make

Every bond you break

Every step you take

I'll be watching you.

Every single day

Every word you say

Every game you play

Every night you stay

I'll be watching you.

The first thing I thought was that Jim Carey movie "The Truman show" His whole entire life was being documented as the world watched him grow into an adult.

If you look at the Show More tab under the video, you'll see that I addressed that. When we shot this episode it was before YouTube had officially updated the numbers. If anything, the new statistic drives home the point of the rest of the episode -- video is becoming increasingly pervasive.

Johnathan here is the problem. Certain moments cannot be relived. When you are living in the moment and something special happens, looking at a recording will not bring you back. You have to enjoy life in the moment. The day I met my wife, my memory is more valuable then any recording will ever be. Certain things in life are priceless and can't be recaptured with technology and I'm not being close minded, I'm giving my honest human opinion on this.

If there's no more privacy, we'll never have bad movie franchises end, and it will be a whole bad future.

Well I really hope privacy doesn't become a thing of the past.Minimized "sure", wiped out "please NO"... and wouldn't it be so awkward having to watch ur life in cam.

If you don't do anything wrong, you don't have to worry about a thing!

Having objective recording makes self observation, decision making, and personal development and entirely different, and better process. It also provides accountability, which hopefully deters bad ideas. There's way more to this this question and topic, but later...
