They are the definition of soulmate. Maybe not romantically, but you can tell they are so compatible as two individuals who obviously care and loves one another dearly. You know given anytime, they can always count on each other to have their back even if it's life and death.
A soulmate could possibly be your romantic partner, friends, or family. But not all romantic partners are soulmate.

J.K Rowling gave Potterheads the biggest joy ever by creating this Harry Potter series and gave the biggest sorrow by not making Harry and Hermione end up with each other

It’s actually cute how comfortable they are with one another throughout the entire series to the point where they can openly hug without it being awkward or weird. Now that’s true friendship.
Heck they even danced with each other and somehow it was still fully platonic but at the same time it showed how close they are and how much they care for each other.

The fact that JK Rowling said in some interview that they fit better together makes me a little bit angry because we all thought the same.
The dance scene was so cruel for the ones who read the book. We knew they weren't going to be together at the end.
