40 000 students illegally benefiting from NSFAS: SIU

The Special Investigating Unit says it's tracing thousands of tertiary students who have illegally benefitted from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. The unit was briefing Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts about its investigations into serious maladministration at the Fund.

I was always wondering how NFSAS gave a child of a personnel working at the University of higher learning a bursary while that child automatically qualified for studying at such University for free as a benefit package because of their parents working at such University.👁️🤔 Let the SIU zoom deeper in this one as well.

Hogwash! No one in South Africa is benefiting illegaly for education. Who do you think has the money to pay for this expensive education. We do not need another "investigation" which is going to cost tax payers lots of money. Leave the students alone and give them all more money so that they can finish their studies.

Whoever allowed this to happen should be held responsible and pay back the money, not the students, mal administration is not their fault.

It can't be from 2017 to 2021.. What about those who were defrauding in 2022?.. Meaning those who defrauded Funds in 2022 are not going to be investigated? The SIU needs to do the investigations again.. Why do the investigations end end in 2021?

No wonder when I was in College at Westlake False Bay campus, they paid us R420 a month for travel allowance and I ended up in my second year because I'm one of those that needed funding and now my life is different. Corruption also kills futures of young people
