It’s the “spend your resin on guaranteed drops” part that a lot of people forget. You can’t guarantee a perfect artifact unless you have unlimited time, resin, and fodder. But you can always guarantee getting the resources to level up, ascend, and raise talent levels

I personally spend more resin leveling characters to 90 than artifact hunting

I focus on one character at a time and I dedicate a week to farming artifacts for them. It doesn’t matter how good or bad the artifacts are, the next week I will be grinding something different no matter what (so I don’t burnout). I will also take a “general” week where I spend my resin on talent and weapon domains. I level my characters when I can, but it’s not my top priority if I can manage them at a lower level. (My mora budget is 700k-1M per week so I can’t always afford to lvl characters)

If you are a veteran player, you probably have a small collection of partially levelled meh artifacts you can give to your character while you level the rest of their things!
In fact for Lynette I already had some decent +20 viridescent venerer artifacts that weren’t good enough for anemo boys, so she got good artifacts before she was even level 2

I recently actually started preparing my characters first before focusing on artifacts. It helps way more than you think

Truer words have never been spoken.
The first time I 36 star abyss is when I actually level up my caharcters talent lv from 8 to 9. Just one level upgrade, and the difference is already way higher than replacing artifacts over and over again.

I can even safely say, in terms of crit value (which people overhype, myself included), you can actually do a decent abyss run with 60:120 crit value, as long as you level up your characters, talents, and weapons first.
