Emiliano Martinez is an absolute menace. Probably the greatest villain in world football at the moment, as well as the most in demand goalkeeper for a penalty shootout.

However, he wasn't always a superstar. How did this happen?

If a goaly can't celebrate a save, then players shouldn't be able to celebrate goals...

He’s also said that he talked with his therapist during his time at Arsenal when he was a bit depressed and his therapist suggested that he celebrate his saves how a forward celebrates their goals.

The stupidest thing ever is that they don't allow him to dance. Scorers have danced after a goal for decades, yet, they find it troublesome when Emiliano does it.
As Maradona would say; "La tienen adentro"

For the rest of the world, "Dibu" Martínez may be seen as a jerk, but we Argentines know that he is really a very humble guy and that he has his feet on the ground with respect to work and what his role is in the team. We are proud that he is our goalkeeper

Emi Martinez's save in extra time won the World Cup for Argentina. He had every right and more to do whatever celebration he wanted.

he's the kind of guy you'd hate playing against but would love to have on your team😂😂doesn't matter if you like him or not he's a national hero

The problem here is that Emi is south american. When Tim Krul did it, everyone said he was smart even though he was harassing Brian Ruiz. When Redmayne did his thing to Peru, again, no one complaint. The problem here is that a south american did it. That's why they didn't want to change any rule before.

Argentinians are so lucky to have Emiliano Martínez on their team.
Greetings from Argentina.

His teammates said that during a final, Argentina went to penalties, and he was very chill and told his teammates, "no worries, I'll save 3 goals" and he did

Fun fact: Armani was the undisputed goalkeeper but he got covid a week before the match. Just one day before the match he didnt have any symthoms but he still tested positive, and as a rule of the tournament he couldnt play, leaving his place to Martinez for the first time. The rest is history...

The only reason Dibu is criticized by so many people is because they are consumed by envy. They can't do anything but WISH they had a GK like Dibu in their teams...

Against Ecuador I was nearing a heart attack after Messi missed and this dude was hitting the griddy

Emi Martinez is only hated because he's southamerican. I'm 100% sure that if his antics were done by an European gk, people would be saying that he's masterclass

The question is, if a striker can celebrate a goal, why can't a goalkeeper celebrate a save?

Something most people not from Argentina don't know is the impact Dibu has had on children. It is amazing to see so many young kids wanting to be goalkeepers and using his shirt. It might not sound like much but Argentina has always had their eyes glued to the forwards (Maradona, Messi, Kempes, etc) but now everyone is looking at the back, knowing that if the time comes El Dibu will be there.

Dude goes and promotes therapy, he knows beyond he's limitations as a person so he goes beyond in his craft, totally respectful and resourceful individual.

Thank you for mentioning that after the matches he goes to comfort the other team's players, especially their goal keeper. That is also something he always does too, apart from celebrating

As Shaquille O'Neal once said: "Someone is really good when they have to change the rules of the sport to stop them." Well, they changed the rules on penalties because of Emiliano "El Dibu" Martinez.
