Under current sanctions, its only illegal to purchase Russian oil in a few countries. EU countries which sanctioned Russia still buy Russian oil. China & India have openly announced they'll continue buying Russian oil so no reason to hide tankers. The only buyers that would need to hide Russian oil purchases would be those based in the USA and UK.

Well India is not a dark buyer. India openly said that it is buying Russian cheap oil and why it shouldn't. There are millions in India who can benefit from these prices.

China and India have large population to take care of and are largely oil dependent. Import bill is getting higher and so is the Inflation. So buying cheap and discounted oil is a priority and a necessity. Btw european union has been buying oil and gas from russia despite those sanctions so china and India aren't any exceptions over here. That is how the world goes. Business and trade runs despite political hostilities. China and US trade tunes to hundreds of billions of dollars despite hostilities between the two nations. How would you explain that?
