So basically Eggman gets betrayed by another one of his creations, except this time, instead of taking it like a bitch, he goes into "ow hell naw" mode and enters a fist fight with Emperor and Sonic for the gem.

Just so you know...

The gem happens to be the power of Infinite. After defeating the final boss (with all Chaos Emeralds), (Classic) Sonic is then transported into Sonic Forces.

In hindsight, this is actually pretty hilariously sad. Classic Sonic goes through all of this trouble to fight off the Phantom Ruby, follows it through dimensions all to be thrown aside so that another version of himself and some random joe with a gun can finish the job for him.

A level in a classic sonic game, where you can fly as super sonic, constantly lose rings, and two bosses in one, and it's not super easy. SEGA, you are applauded 👌

I like the fact that Heavy King can damage Super Sonic because it uses power blasts (like magic can be defeated only by magic) while Eggman cannot damage Sonic since he uses mechanisms

Here's how we know Sonic Mania is tied to Classic Sonic's appearance in Sonic Forces:

1. Classic Sonic and the Phantom Ruby went to a different dimension.
2. Only Classic Sonic went through the portal as stated that Classic Tails and Knuckles weren't confirmed to be in Sonic Forces.
3. The kick after Classic Sonic spins through the portal, which shares a relationship to that same kick in Sonic Forces when he saves Modern Sonic from a pile of rubble.

All these clues tie together the very reason how Classic Sonic is joining alongside Modern Sonic in Sonic Forces. Agreed?

I had my suspicions, considering Infinite makes the exact same sound when he uses his powers, but now it seems especially clear that The Phantom Ruby is going to be used in Sonic Forces, and must somehow be involved in the creation of Infinite, or something to that effect.
