The Intro/Opening to the 2006 psychological, mystery anime movie Paprika, from director Satoshi Kon.

Did not see this uploaded in high quality so I thought I would do so myself for your viewing pleasure.

The song is called "Mediational Field" (Baikaiya) by Susumu Hirasawa, please buy and support the original soundtrack if you enjoy it.

To be honest... This is probably the best intro ever.

I fell in love with this intro. I admit I always cry a bit at it, especially at that scene where Paprika snaps her finger and everything stops. I often feel overwhelmed and I wished I could just snap my finger and run away. This character is very brave, I really like her.

I just saw this in theaters the other day, I teared up because of how beautiful it was. As I was watching I felt so sad because we'll never be able to experience a new work from Mr. Satoshi Kon. I'm so happy he was here on this earth with us, if only for a short time ❤

Satoshi kon, that genius...it's a pity that we lost him so early...Paprika is the best anime movie I've ever seen with Akira...I'm proud to work in cinema thanks to him. RIP Sir Kon....You are such an inspirational master to me.

Agent Paprika goes on from jump to jump between the fissures of space-time of the vast world of dreams, shaping the reality as she runs through it, until she reaches impossible spheres hidden between the webs of subconscious that are impossible to unravel...

Inside of my dreams Paprika, vivid, cheeky, beautiful, slides between the buildings and corners of a night Tokyo following the beat of Susumu Hirasawa's melody.
I love her. She's definitely not the same of the novel that Satoshi Kon decided to adapt, and thank God.
Like him. I'd wish I could take her hand and slip through the cracks of time, surfing the skies of the impossible, diving the oceans of surreality, travelling into alternative universes of double identities, nightmare creatures and epic adventures...
until we come out from the movie projector, come into the screen and be cheered by Satoshi Kon with that mischievous smile of him from the seats, together with his friends Mima, Chiyoko, the trio Gin, Hana and Miyuki...

This is why I'd wish to see him, and not dead by the cancer.

This has aged well. After a while, you understand that this "visual mess" is actually a masterpiece.

I can't believe they gave the plot twist in the opening, in plain sight

This movie is a masterpiece. I hadn't watched this intro in years and I have tears in my eyes. So nostalgic in a otherworldly dreamy way, like it is floating in time. Kon was a genius.

I hadn’t even *heard* of Paprika until I watched it last night, but quite frankly I’m mesmerised- this is like the 10th time I’ve watched this intro today lol

It’s such a shame the person behind them passed- their work really feels one of a kind

The weirdest movie I ever seen, I think, so full of imagination

One of the reasons why I prefer this over inception, or Ghost in the Shell over something like Terminator is because they discover concepts with the viewer. While the others are mostly action films that have these concepts to build their world.

Every time I watch this intro for some reason I start spill tears from my eyes, can't figure out why but it's quite joyful.
