#PetzlTips - An easy solution to tension a rope

Whether it is for a lifeline or tyrolean installation, here a solution to tension a rope easily. 3:1 pulley system is sufficient in most cases. By using a directional SPIN L1, you can easily tension the rope under your own weight.

Don’t forget a stopper knot to avoid accidental release of tension due to mishandling of the descender!

What is the failed weight of the ID in this system.

Haha, the same can be done with a butterfly knot, two carabiners and a slip hitch 😂 and yeah sure use your weight to tension it, why not? 😅

...but then your RIG is trapped in the tension system. And tons of added unnecessary friction, this is ridiculous.

Should be using a prusik in situations instead of a metal friction grab because the metal can cut the rope if you encounter a fall scenario. I’ve never had it happen but it’s good to be safe.
