UPDATE!!! - Hey, I wanted to add something we learned after. Also, huge shout out to Hardware Unboxed for the additional analysis. We have an updated review coming later but game uplift is actually closer to 5% and in our rush to finish the review on time we did choose titles that were more Zen biased. Also, when comparing this chip against the 7700 (just for gaming) you may have a better more economical option versus the 9700x. For SFF builds that do productivity and gaming you need to decide if the boost is worth it.

8:45 it is very rare to hear someone have such wisdom while doing their job. You just got a new sub, Sir.

Nice balanced review without clickbait, negative hyperbole. Faster, uses less power, what isn't to like. Ignore the weird, kinda creepy Steve stans creeping around here, they cannot think for themselves.

Kinda crazy how much more positive this review is versus the "consensus". And with the numbers to back up that enthusiasm. Makes me wonder what's driving the massive disparity in conclusions.

As someone who is still on AM4 with a 5800X3D, the 9700X is looking really awesome!

You have to laugh at all the dissing comments on the 9600x and 9700x but I can understand to a certain extent from the early reviews but since the price drop and numerous Bios updates these chips are a different option altogether, They can be run at stock 65w for small form factor and laptop builds and the recent Bios updates take away the power restrictions allowing 105w as per the 7000 series plus you can completely unlock the chips, Truly a chip for all scenarios, Productivity has been shown to have an uplift of up to 20% when overclocked.

What does eco mode look like on this beauty?

Nice review less power and less heat sounds great. Can save some money on power supply, cooling and still have good temperatures. Also you wont need the most expensive motherboard with lower TDP and PPT. That means less thermal throttling and less performance loss because of heat and power delivery.

Thanks for including the best idle data/wattage comparison of all the reviews I have seen.
Edit: Will you be able to compare them with the 7600 and 7700 (non X) in a future video?

Where I live is sooo hot and I will upgrade my i9 9900kf to r7 9700x. Man, those temps...

Going to microcenter today to pick this chip up for $300. Pairing with a 7900xt for $640. And an MSI X870 motherboard for a chipset to take full advantage of 9000 series, including possibly finding 5x4 gen 5 SSD main drive. These are actually not terrible times for PC building if one is patient with the build.

Probably going to wait till the fall to swap on over to AM5. I know the 7800x3d is still a monster for gaming but i really like those temps for the 9700x.

just picked this up at micro center got a good deal. my build cost me 1, 450$ very excited to build it.

I like low TDP chips. Don't want my desktop to be a stove. 😄

Man, I really need somebody to test this chip with the new windows build and a higher TDP

Can I cool the 9700x with a 90mm dual tower air cooler? Will there be adequate headroom assuming I don't overclock?

what was the ambient temperature near the system???

Looking between this and the 7700x for a new AM5 build to upgrade from my 3600; which would you suggest runs best alongside the 7800xt card?
