Junior Doctors' Protest in West Bengal : 9 Days of Hunger Strike, Nationwide Solidarity | Kolkata

The hunger strike by junior doctors in West Bengal has entered its ninth day, highlighting their demands following a tragic incident at RG Kar Hospital. In solidarity, people across the state are participating in symbolic fasts. Three junior doctors who were on a 'fast unto death' in Kolkata and Siliguri have been hospitalized due to deteriorating health. Notably, the Resident Doctors' Associations from AIIMS New Delhi and PGI Chandigarh have issued a warning to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about a potential nationwide escalation if any harm comes to the protesting doctors. Additionally, the Ex-Students Association of RG Kar Medical College and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) are calling for a 12-hour fast today to demand justice for Abhaya and prevent future incidents.

There also seems to be a gag order against the citizens to prevent them from even mentioning or protesting against the incident . The Pujo Pandal in our locality put up a poster near the entrance and 2 days later some "white uniformed" men came and tore it off saying it is not allowed, "jhamela hoye jaabe" etc.
