As a sparky that also renovates, I personally prefer the stapled string method. Nothing like having insulation come down on top of you while your trying to fit the board.

Also when doing underfloor insulation in a raised house, it'll ensure the rockwool can't fall into the cavity in years to come

Things are different around the world that's for sure. Here in Canada we legally have to vapor barrier all exterior walls and ceiling, you use the vapor barrier to hold it up.

They have insulation with paper on it and thats what you staple up to the ceiling

Thought you might find this interesting. Section 88 Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 says “metal or other conductive fasteners not to be used to install ceiling insulation”
