The 4090 Is Actually A Good Deal?

In this video I take a look at some of the benchmarks from the big tech YouTube channels and see if we can work out how the 4090 would perform in Star Citizen? NOT A REVIEW (I don't have enough money)!

Really would suggest anyone to wait until gen12 and Vulkan are in prior to recommending any GPU changes

I think his new Ryzen 7950x may be inferior to the 5800x3D in SC performance. Will see soon.

Given the issues with that new connector, I honestly don't want a 4090. Hopefully the custom 7900 XTX cards will be able to warm my room too.

I cannot wait until I can get one of these cards. GIVE ME MORE FRAMES

Would love to get my hands on one. Craving that 4K performance.

I picked up one but just got the power cables needed for it, so I plan on installing it tonight/tomorrow. Will test SC with my 5800x3d. GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 4090 Waterforce 3-fan AIO. Should be a nice upgrade to my current 2080ti FTW3 Hybrid which was semi-playable at 4k but not great in cities. I got it because it's a 4k-120hz card for optimized games, and should do next-gen VR well. (Valve Deckard) Hoping to keep it for a good while to get my money's worth out of it.

No.
Just like buying a 2yo card over MSRP isn't a good deal, neither is buying a current gen card for double the previous MSRP.

Once optimization is actually done the 20 to 30 series will most likely suffice.

I'm still just running 1080p with a GTX1070 while doing so on a 2K-UW monitor (lol). I was thinking about the RX 6700XT or RX 6800XT, but I think I need to wait for the next gen to get better bang-for-buck

I do own the Tuf oc 4090 and i can tell you for sure it is a 4k beast.
And frame generation is awesome..

Using Lossless Scaling and its new AI based "LS1" upscaling type i cap my fps at 60fps at 4k in SC and its pretty stable too. So far the videos showing the 4090 in SC isn't much better really so happy with my 5800x3d/RTX3080 combo for now. I mean i don't really want to spend all that money on a 4090 and still need to use some type of upscaling now do i! Of course, what i really want is 4k/120fps with little or no upscaling.

Check out the video UndeadParrot gaming did running on a 5800x3d and a 4090 at 7680 x 1440 resolution across 3 screens. In Lorville he was getting mid 40s on ultra.

Wait until CIG release their Gen12 / Vulkan updates before running this through a 40xx, as too much is CPU and / ore server bound right now.

Yeahy your comparision is pretty much accurate if you look at the other YT's that have managed to get their hands on it and used it in SC. I still think the production line AM5's are not a good choice for gaming and wait for the x3d lines

I was thinking the same after I watched the reviews of the 4K results . at the min I only have a 1440p monitor and my new PC build is on its way ( I have a case lol )
Still waiting for the Intel 13th gen review to decide Intel or AMD but Im thinking 7800x3d when its out as for graphics the RTX4090 is calling but that price ££££ I am also thinking of going custom water cooling so want a Block for the cards too or go like rhadiem has with the Waterforce AIO
so when RDNA3 is out for reviews and the Intel 13th gen I'll know lol I just need to save up

Don't have one at _only_ $1600?!, I'm disappointed ;)

The have to be careful of the 4090 benchmarks, because they tend to be using DLSS3 which uses AI to insert fake frames and give you an artificially high FPS. When you compare apples with apples, the gains look more modest.

4090 is way too expensive but prolly will get 4080 16GB. Seen 7900X and 7950X perf in SC and it doesn't seem crazy compared to 5900X so I'll wait Zen4 w/ 3d Cache and DDR5 to be cheaper to switch. Besides, CIG indicated Gen12 updates in 3.18 should show better optimization and we're not even post-Vulkan CPU multithreading optimizations so even a 3080 could actually get decent perf in some months/few years

ThorTheTitan made some videos with a 4090 and 7950x he is around 50-60 fps in Orison with high cloud and thats around 50-60 % GPU usage only. This card is a beast. Twice the performance for twice the price.

To be honest, I don't bother checking fps unless I'm in Orison or Lorville and then I look for the lows.
With a 5600, 6750 or 3070 I bottom out around 30 fps in the usual spots, so obviously it is the CPU holding it back (12600KF @5.2GHz, 64GB @3600 3440x1440).
Just waiting on reviews to decide 5800x3D or 13700K, or just stick with what I got.
