Collingwood has hung on to defeat a wasteful but fast-finishing Melbourne by seven points in the qualifying final.

The Pies kicked just two points to the Demons' 3.2 in the final term, holding firm in the final minutes to win 9.6 (60) to 7.11 (53) in a somewhat spiteful affair.

The first quarter defined the match. Collingwood out muscled them

Steven May spoils what would be a Jack Lever intercept mark in or near their D50 in the 4th Quarter
BT, being serious: “the coaches would love that”
Dangerfield: No, BT
😂😂😂😂😂😂

I hope Angus Brayshaw is OK. It looked innocuous. Brayden’s got a big heart. It wasn’t an intentional act or even reckless or careless. It was an unfortunate accident, the result of being in the air and having nowhere to land except on the player, who happens to be a friend of his. It shouldn’t be a major talking point for the next week

Great contest by both sides but Melbournes accuracy has let them down once again. They could have easily made this game fully on their terms but the pressure got to the forwards and they werent able to capitalize on their opportunities like Collingwood were able to.

A lot of people are forgetting that the conditions were quite wet early on, if it had've been dry. Collingwood would've kicked themselves to a much larger lead. Conditions did dry out later in the game and Melbourne did play quite well in the last quarter.

The problem with Collingwood is complacency, they put the cue in the rack too soon and switch to a defensive game style. Melbourne nearly overran them as a result.

Nobody at all addressing the huge elephant in the room,
Biggest crowd between these two in 60 years, granted 90% were Collingwood fans, but still

It was spiteful, low-scoring and intense, a Finals matchup that everyone had been unintentionally waiting for, 34 years in the making, and for that to end up being a thriller was well worth it.

Melbourne, we had this "discussion" before. Inaccuracy tends to cost victories and for you, it happened again. This is Geelong v Melbourne all over again. Yeah, you came back from 27 points down, but if you had just been more accurate, you would've won and had the week off. Instead, it's a do-or-die Friday night Semi Final at the Macca.

Collingwood, you earned this win. It was getting nervous late, but you held strong. Enjoy your week off.

Clearly a football incident by Maynard, Crippa got off last year for much worse should be all good.

Maynard's personality matches the shape of his head. I like the guy.

Melbourne have been beaten by Carlton by 2 points. Melbourne Demons are eliminated in "straight sets" for the 2nd consecutive season.
