You can't compare this to hogwarts. In that game the gameplay and story was great, the controversy was about the author which had nothing to do with the game. This is all about the game and the story and how lackluster both are sounding.

The only issue I have with it is the graphics change. It seems like they're "kidifying" the series and making it less and less gritty.

Sorry Luke. Got to disagree with you. Ive played all 3 DAs and loved each one, but this one really has me on the fence. Its to much of a departure from the previous games, in character, creature designs and tone. We'll see about the story when it releases, but im approaching this with a great deal of scepticism and a lot of other gamers ive seen are doing the same.

I've played every dragon age, and this is the absolute worst game of the series. Not because of the culture but in fact to destroying a beloved game from a rating Teen to an Everybody.

The game isn't just hated because it is full of crap, but because this isn't a Dragon Age anymore. Dragon Age was a dark fantasy. This game isn't dark and barely fantasy with the everyday Californian writing.

As someone who played every dragon age up to this one, I'll say it doesn't look like the same gritty, dark franchise anymore. Gameplay looks clunky too, hard pass.

During the Hogwarts Legacy drama, the minority ones, who are very vocal about the game, are the trans, non-binary, or people who are part of the LGBTQ+. Look what happened to that game, it became successful.

Now, I believe Dragon Age: The Veilguard caters to the same people (the "minority" ones) and alongside the DA fans. I've also seen some DA fans who are unsure about the game like Cohh. Therefore, I think the virtue signaling of the game this time will hurt the its sales.

The Hogwarts legacy outcry was from people who hate JK Rowling because she said men shouldn't participate in women's sports. Hogwarts Legacy also sold extremely well. DA: Veilguard is being criticized for abysmal writing, no choice, gutted rpg mechanics, and modern-day finger wagging at you 24/7. Apples to oranges.

Can’t agree with the sentiment here. Are there small minded people spouting hate because of perceived politics/ideologies in the game? Sure.

But the vast majority of the negative/mixed reactions I’ve seen are either fans of the series worried about the gameplay changes they’re making, or just people who don’t like the look of the game. That’s it, not hate, feedback and opinions.

I disagree with him. Half of the “culture war” channels I’ve watched have bought the game and are trying to find redeeming factors about the game

I agree a lot of the initial hate came from non-gaming channels, but I’ve seen a lot of DA content channels discussing things like the decision to import only three choices, and the general sentiment even among fans in those videos has been at best mild disappointment. Add on to that general BioWare skepticism, and I think a lot people are at least going to wait for a sale.

The difference is that Hogwarts legacy has the Harry Potter IP, which that alone is a Massive advantage.

Dragon Age is a really small IP by comparison and even now I don’t believe is amongst the most recognizable IPs in gaming in general.

Doesn’t help that BioWare’s previous 2 games were Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem (both very poorly received games) and the reveal trailer was kind of bad, I never played dragon age but I DO know the games are dark medieval fantasy, while the DA Inquisition reveal trailer felt made by Marvel as a Guardians of the Galaxy wannabe

Those offended by Hogwarts aren’t gamers, true. Many are driven to cultural war from… the culture war infecting what they like. Games being one.

I don’t think the comparison is quite as apt as you believe.
