the mixing and mastering process is driving me insane. its sucking all of the fun out of making music. once ive sat there for hours trying to mix and master listening to the beat on repeat it kills any love i had for it

Try to make it 0.

1. Side chain drums (snare kicks) to instruments to cut through the frequencies; adjust parameters

2. Compress main channel for bus; compresse peaks and make quiet sounds louder.

3. Make sure all levels are properly set. Mix should be set properly before mastering. If something is too loud, bring it down; vice versa
( automation volume)

4. Saturator, EQ . Master channel
OVERALL MIX brought up the high, mid, low a little bit. (Not dramatic) roll off between 20 hertz

5. Compress again.
Search for peaks. Try to make it near 0db

6. Normalize and then export it.
Normalize raises everything to 0

BRO THAT WAS IT! The tip to master the track to were it reaches as close to 0 as possible was exactly my problem. I had it sitting all the way down in the low 8, which is nuts because it sounded so loud in the studio. Every export sounded like the song was shy lol

I don't think this is what I'm looking for. I'm trying to record one guitar track and export it for now, and it's exporting quiet. I'm not mastering one clean track, it's surely a simple setting I'm missing.

my mix sounds fine in ableton. then i export the master into a wav file and it sounds so quiet. sounds flat, no punch, no life to it. and it pisses me off bec sometimes it exports fine and sometimes the quiet thing happens. like i have one track that sounds the exact same in as a wav as it did when i was in ableton. then i have a different track that sounds good in ableton and then once exported to a wav file it sounds soooo bad. idk y this happens and it’s pissing me off
