It's always puzzles me when I see so many self-called 'expert metal detectorists' of multi-many years experience telling others to turn a machine up to max gain, then back off a tad till it barely chatters. All those years, and they make one of the worse mistakes that a person can make with any electrical-audio tool. And to think, most of those 'experts' have owned radios back in the day! ....Your words regarding gain level are spot on for me. Go for the Least you can get away with, Not the other way around, that way disc and audio feed-back harmonises correctly. Bigger the coil, least the gain is key to learning to hunt properly. I really appreciate your style.

I got some good out of it. Reaffirmation of what I already know!! 5” coil is amazing. I like the lower sensitivity technique. It works. The stock coil gets a bad rap a lot of times. Not sure why, I find it to be a joy to use. Even after thousands of hours I still use it a lot. Superfly may change all that.
