I am Japanese. I was born there and all my extended families are there. I’m not sure if it’s a matter of low self esteem, but we keep ourselves motivated in all departments because we represent our entire family, not just ourselves. When you have manners you are reflecting how your parents raised you. It’s not much about achieving high, but more about respecting the time and effort our parents put into raising us the best that they were able to.
There is some truth in the video like how we shouldn’t stand out, but that’s also probably why no one will spit on the streets or litter. We are a community. It’s like spitting in your own room.
