Chris Newman takes lead vocals on the jazz standard “Royal Garden Blues” which proved another highly popular number for Bob Dwyer’s Bix and Pieces Jazz Band at the Griffin Park Jazz Club Christmas Show with solos from Bob Dwyer (trombone), Alan Cresswell (clarinet), “Magic” Mike Henry (cornet), Marc Easener (sousaphone), Chris Newman (keyboards) and Graham Collicott (drums). Popularised by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, this Clarence Williams/Spencer Williams composition was a staple for Bix Beiderbecke and was also recorded by Louis Armstrong and Branford Marsalis.
