Jon Anderson is an English singer and songwriter, best known as the lead singer of the progressive rock band Yes. In my interview we discuss the songwriting and recording process of the classic Yes albums. We also discuss how their 1971 hit "Roundabout" gained a new audience due to its heavy usage in the first two arcs of the popular manga-anime series Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, the song has been frequently used by JJBA fans in various memes and YouTube remixes, along with the "to be continued" graphic logo featured in the manga-anime series, typically at the climax of the video for comedic and suspenseful effects.

50 years later Jon Anderson still remembers the name of the lady who cleaned the studio. That says much.

don't know what's best: Beato smiling like a kid on Christmas eve for 30 min, or Jon being Jon for 30 min. absolutely great.

I know Jon Anderson is an Alto Tenor vocalist but I didn't expect his speaking voice to be this high. What a cheery happy man.
He still sounds like a Lancashire lad even now.

Jon Anderson has the highest most positive vibrational energy of anyone alive.

Jon Anderson is my neighbor.
He visits our local guitar store.
A very kind and genuine man.

Love you Jon. Once I met Roger Dean and asked him about you. His response: "Jon is the person who cares most about the planet Earth, without actually being from there." 😅

When Rick asked Jon if he had any particularly favorite gigs, I was begging the screen, "Please let it be June 12th 1976, JFK stadium in Philly".
I couldn't believe it when he said, JFK stadium in Philly with Peter Frampton Chris Squire has also said that that was his most memorable concert. Peter Frampton has also spoken of it. I remember when Peter brought his parents out on stage, and introduced them... He said later that he just wanted them to see the full size of the crowd for themselves...
That was my first Yes concert, about 10 rows back from Steve Howe under The Crab Nebula stage setup with the laser show that is still talked about to this day...
I've come to realize since then, that Yes and their music, always positive, had a major influence on my life, back then, and to this day...
Thank you Jon, Chris, Rick, Steve, Alan, Bill, Bill, Patrick and of course Eddie for it all!!!

Blessings!!!

Refreshing, personable, a great singer and a great musician who has given millions of people a lot of joy down the decades.
"Do you know 'Close to the Edge'?" A monument should be already erected in Jon's honor. "Close to the Edge" is one of those rare things that make the world more beautiful. Fifty years since its release, it continues to lend beauty to the world. And Jon's humbleness is refreshing and, in fact, phenomenal.

The constant shining smile in Rick's eyes is a great example for showing what fascination looks like. Wonderful interview.

Rick's face is priceless. That moment when you actually are talking with a legendary musician you respect so much. :-)

This is my favorite of all Rick's interviews. Jon Anderson is a treasure. His story about meeting Pete Townshend is the perfect fanboy experience 27:46 . A wonderful person and incredible artist.

I saw Yes play the entire "Close to the Edge" album live at Winterland S.F. in 1973, and became a life-long Yes fan. A few years ago, my wife and I happen to meet Jon Anderson just before he gave a talk at the Grammy Museum in LA. Jon was so kind and gracious. When I mentioned how much I enjoyed that 1973 show, Jon shared with us that his son was born that night, and what that night meant to him. Oh my, what a moment!

I am most impressed by the fact that Jon Anderson is a big Spinal Tap fan. How can you not love this guy?!?!

I'm 22. My Dad got me into Yes when I was 13, and I still love them to bits. You're a legend, Jon. Your music will always be some of my happiest memories :)

My world in the 70's basically revolved around Yes, at 62 their Music is still amazing
When Chris Squire passed away we lost a beautiful soul

Jon's so humble, he actually wondered if Rick had heard "Close to the Edge." That is so refreshing. Great interview.

I saw Yes 15 to 20 times and loved their music. Jon was such a brilliant singer and they sounded so good live. Remarkable band and era.

If Yes had only ever done Close to the Edge, they would still be one of the most brilliant bands to ever exist
