Rooster Teeth SHUTS DOWN after 21 Years! What will happen to RWBY, Funhaus & Red vs Blue?

It had been coming for a long time. But today, on Wednesday 6th of March their parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, after unsuccessful attempts to sell the unprofitable fandom, gaming and comedy entertainment division, is shutting down Rooster Teeth’s operations. This means plenty of layoffs and questionmarks what may happen with their popular franchises. Like RWBY, Camp Camp, Red vs Blue or even Funhaus. It’s been years since I listened to Burnie Burns, Gavin Free, Barbara Dunkelman and Gus Sorola on the RT Podcast. A lot has happened since then. But it seems like the downfall of Rooster Teeth continues. The Ryan Haywood Drama from Achievement Hunter and Adam Kovic from Funhaus had their scandal, which was followed by layoffs and brutally bad reviews written by previous employees on Glassdoor. Another ex Achievement Hunter employee and voice actress of RWBY comes forward with hard hitting accusations against the company. Kdin Jenzen, who worked with Rooster Teeth for almost 10 years and who primarily appeared on Achievement Hunter but was also known for voicing May Marigold in RWBY amongst other credits, left the company in June 2022. And just a few months ago she shared a detailed piece about some of her experiences within the company, including some shocking details of what’s allegedly really going on behind the scenes at RT. Geoff Ramsey, Gus Sorola, Michael Jones and Rooster Teeth responded with official statements at the time. Let's discuss the end of Rooster Teeth!

It was a death by thousands cuts, this was a long time coming. Too many controversies, too many toxicity, too many unnecessary changes thanks to political views, correctness or bullying.

It was never a matter of IF, only WHEN.

As bad as this sounds, im haply RT is shutting down. After it turned corporate, everything just went downhill. Ray leaving, Let's plays, and all the scuff gaming. The minecraft videos. Achievement hunter shutting down. RWBY, and red vs blue. It just went downhill.

I just remember when AH was shutting down they were like “Our Survivor Minecraft show was the greatest thing we ever did” and I thought to myself, I haven’t watched anything AH in years, I’ll check it out. Then I watched the first episode and thought it was alright and tried to watch the rest but it was all behind a paywall. Like how are you going to get people back if nothing is free and that’s all we’re used to

The main issue with the 'current' line-up was: I didn't know them, they were shoved in our faces, they didn't appear gradually, they replaced fan favourites.

If you look at Jeremy and Matt (AH) they started on the community channel, were mentioned in a few main videos, joined in on a few videos. So when at RTX asked for a job; it was a celebration, as it felt like they belonged there.

Take Mica Burton, daughter of a 'famous' actor, she didn't join because she loved RoosterTeeth, she joined because she was a Z list celebrity.

AH/RT always felt like the cool uncle or friends older brother. Then the on screen talent became young - and that dynamic changed.

Sad to see them go, but I've had 5 years to get over the sinking ship.

So sad, this company and especially Achievement hunter got my through some tough times but over the years this place has been one shock after another, the overworked staff, the underpaid staff, the bullying claims and don't get me started about the RH scandal.

It's just sad this place lost the fundamentals that made it so watchable.

Just front the first two minutes I have to say if you have been a part of corporate system owned by another parent company, this isn’t a give them more warning kind of thing, this a Warner bros exec who is in charge of them was told to shutter them by the end of the week on Monday flew out to Texas yesterday sat down with the rt heads and then today they had no choice but to call the all hands, this isn’t and rt being rt, this is WBD being a corporation.

It suck but this is one of the few occasions rt aren’t the ones at fault for the handling of the situation, also expecting all your answers answered within an hour of the staff themselves finding out is also kinda crazy hence why there doing a livestream tomorrow, if they don’t explain well enough tomorrow then you have a good arguement to make but this weird mood/take to be negative at rt instead of wbd

Honestly, despite how big of a role RT played in my life, my intial reaction to this information was relief. Finally. I feel terrible for talented people who were still working there, but as a longtime fan it has been getting sadder and sadder by the day watching RT limp on.

RT has finally been put out to pasture. It's honestly equal parts goodbye and good riddance. I really hope those who got laid off are able to find work somewhere that treats their staff better and has a clearer direction and motivation.
