Yesterday I tried to list my car on eBay but that night my eBay account was suspended for life and there is nothing I can do about being banned.

Thousands of shady sellers and they banned YOU? Sheesh. Sorry to hear that.

If you're selling high price items on eBay and know there is no one to speak to when things inevitably go wrong then it's best to avoid this platform.

Ebay is ruined. Not what it used to be.

The operator asks you to press 1 for English while you wait on the phone and you eventually talk to someone who barely speaks English.

The eBay of today is not the eBay of yesterday, not by a long shot. I doubt they last much longer.

Seemingly you can only sell cars on e Bay if you are a scammer and don't realley have the car.

I have serious worries. After 40 years working in Information Technology I find that everyone is talking about "Artificial Intelligence" but what I see is poor presentation in automatically produced content, totally incorrect subtitles that don't match dialog, lazy videos showing repetitive footage and inaccurate text and misleading lazy content.
What strikes me about AI is that yes, it is "Artificial" but there is nothing Intelligent about it. The automated help on many web sites is just a way of avoiding accountability and leads you away from speaking to actual people who can actually think and reason. We are in for a bumpy ride with this BS they call Artificial Intelligence.
You have my understanding and sympathy Steve. I now have my doubts about selling anything on ebay or even online.

It's been a long time since fleabay was America's Garage Sale. Up through the early 2000's I bought and sold quite a bit of stuff including selling several classic cars. Through the years I noticed that they were less and less little guy friendly. Now it seems like they have more in common with Temu than an auction site. I've done very little business with them in the last decade.

The scary part is how would anyone know stuff about you that you don’t even know? eBay is ridiculous and I’m getting sick of it.

Hang in there Steve. There’s always a marketplace for honest sellers like you. These capricious decisions by on line platforms will lead to their loss of users. Good luck.

Ebay has been circling the drain for like 5-8 years. Or since they stopped giving out the periodic 10-20% off coupons that basically let you recoup the fees once a year or so.
I think the sales tax reporting changes, and recent entry-level shipping price increases, have really hurt the online auction companies.

One of the many reasons that eBay sucks so badly these days.

One rule that has served me well through the years when it comes to that site: If you can get it retail, then get it retail. Period.

I had some frustrating dealings with eBay and will never use them again.

This happened to me and I had never bought and sold on ebay. I tried to go through the data regulator in the UK who instructed ebay to give me the information they had on me so I had the possibility of the finding out why I was cancelled. Ebay did give me the information but it was given through a third party data source and I could not unlock the ebay information in the time it was available. It was on a platform I didn't understand. The power of these undemocratic companies is frightning.

I used to sell a lot on ebay... I stopped when they started requiring a SSN.

I feel for you. I haven't bought or sold on eBay for over 10 years, after they cancelled one of my car auctions that was 1 bid from hitting it's reserve. They said they didn't like the way something in the description was worded. I changed the description and re-listed, but the car didn't come anywhere close to the reserve on the new listing. I emailed them (and never got a reply), and swore that I'd never use eBay again, and I haven't. It was a resource for parts for several classics I've restored, but now just seems to cater to storefronts instead of individual sellers.

I gave up on ebay years ago. They're scammers themselves. "Global Shipping" is a major scam.

It’s unfortunate, but these faceless companies are punishing ordinary people so they can say that they are “doing the right thing” regarding fraudulent sales.
But I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone purchasing via them saying that they saved them from sending money to a fraudulent account.
They are so full of crud it’s ridiculous!
