My daughter is part of the school district admin in Marshalltown. I am of the understanding that she can (legally) contribute $6, 500 to her Fidelity ROTH -AND- still contribute up to $22, 500 each year into a ROTH through the district's 403b plan. I am guessing that she will never max out both; however, by her having a Traditional ROTH outside of the district's 403b, she has the ability to choose form many more funds that she would not have access to otherwise. Do you see any problem with my line of thought here?

My employer currently contributes 10% to my 403B. It’s not a match. They contribute whether employees contribute or not. I’m 47.5yrs old. At 50yrs old their contributions go to 15%. I’m considering switching to Roth 403B as I learn more about it but I’m nervous abt the hit that my net pay will endure. My question:
1) if I switch to Roth does my company’s portion remain in the traditional 403b?
2) Will I have the option to switch a portion to Roth 403b and a different portion to traditional 403b?
