Generator out of Car Alternator

This is just a #shorts but later you will have the full tutorial on how to make an electric generator out of a car alterantor. BTW, this could also work as a brushless motor. The rotor is 3D printed and uses neodymium magnets.

So you just swap the self sustaining electromagnets with permanent magnets so kick starting the alternator is no longer needed?

Keeping the clearance to the magnets small is usually important in magnetics. Could placing a iron spacer on top of the magnet and machining it to keep fire tolerances might help.

But the default rotor field coil can already generate power (that's what an alternator does, recharge a battery), why replace the powered / coiled rotor with magnets ?

I'm wondering why delta and not wye?
The alternator is modified but generally they need a somewhat high rpm to get good voltage. And for a given rpm, delta produces better current at a lower voltage while wye produces a better voltage at a lower current, or you can get by with a wye at a lower safer rpm given that you "glued" the magnets, and I'm not sure I'd trust it at higher rpm.

Why? It was already a 1 to 2KW generator prior to hacking it. you simply need a regulator to excite the rotor poles with a bit of DC to magnetize it and then you rectify the output and modulate the generated voltage by controlling the bias applied to the rotor.

GAAAHHH WRONG, its not a generator, it is a dynamo, a generator needs a powersupply to generate the magnetic field which produces the voltage output, whereas a dynamo has the magnets integrated as shown here ...

You can use that as a bldc motor and use it on a e bike

hello sir can you explain to my why some delco 12si have strange wire configuration? those alternators do not have center tap also wanted to know how its done voltage regulation for those alternators can they by manuali forced to charge at low'r rpm ranges I noticed some tractor alternators have capacitors on them so wondered what exactly is difference about low and high speed voltage regulators?
