How to fix the flashing filter light on your Dyson Cyclone V10™ cordless vacuum

preview_player
Показать описание
Your Dyson Cyclone V10 cord-free vacuum has a filter indicator light which will flash intermittently if the filter unit isn't fitted correctly. To resolve this, just follow the steps below.

Step 1. Remove the filter by twisting anti-clockwise.
Step 2. Refit the filter, twisting clockwise until it clicks into place.

If this video didn't help you (it didn't help me) try opening the bin where you release the dust from, there is a gap/hole beside the motor where hair becomes clogged. The filter is most likely flashing because it is clogged with something like hair or pet dander. I removed about a fistful of rabbit hair, it was quite gross but completely solved the problem for me!

wow - that has got to be the worst help video on YouTube - thanks for nothing Dyson

Seriously. Like who didn't already try that six hundred times. Thanks to the comments we figured it out. So I suppose the video was helpful in THAT regard. ;)

Okay, so you did what everyone's first step was... and then when that obviously didn't work, we looked for a help video. Glad you got that covered

Wow the comments are actually more helpful than the actual offical video response from Dyson.

Thanks to all comments, helpful to understand where all clogs can occur on the V10. I faced a similar issue with mine and dismantled the whole thing, taking apart the smallest of the machine parts - didn't solve my problem though. My Dyson is 4 months old, and I use it at least 3 times a day to clean the house, since I have 2 goldens. Considering the above, I didn't think the filter would have worn out, however, I did order another one. I then read that there were many who washed the filter multiple times, only to face the same issue again. Before I could put on the new filter, it was just happenstance that I ran my hand inside the filter - there is a rubber lining inside to the deep end, which I felt was moist. I used a hair dryer to dry the filter again THOROUGHLY, and voila, the old filter worked. I'm not sure if anyone else has tried this, but since it worked for me, I'm putting this comment in to help others who have been very kind with their assists. The Dyson has changed my life - and as expensive as it may be, it's just a fabulous piece of machinery.

Here’s a tip for you. After watching this video, washing out the filter multiple times (and letting it dry for 24 each time) mine still didn’t work! I bought a new one in frustration and had the EXACT issue. What was the solution? The clog was in the bend of the WAND where it connected to vacuum floor head. Check that, will save you MUCH grief.

The flashing light does not necessarily indicate an issue with the filter. It indicates an issue with the air intake. Typically this can be the filter, but check the dust bin, the hose, and the head. It can mean something is clogged, but it can also mean something isn't sealed properly. Anything that could impact the air flow through the vacuum.

For me, I washed the filter and still got the light. So, I removed the hose and just had the dust bin with the motor+filter. I started the vacuum and noticed I did not get the light. So, I knew it wasn't an issue with the filter or the bin and it had to be the hosing/head. And after checking, I did notice some dust+debris buildup which was the culprit.

If that worked, we wouldn’t be looking for a video for help 😅🙈

Great video but things were moving too fast for me. Could you make another version where you go into really deep detail?

If none of the comments helped you, like me, then try this.

1. Remove the filter
2. Remove the dust bin completely.
3. Make sure the intake nozzle is clear of all debris
4. Pull the trigger a couple times.
5. re-add the filter
6. Pull the trigger a couple times
7. re-add the dust bin
8. Pull the trigger a couple of times
9. Cover the intake nozzle with your hand and pull the trigger repeatedly.
10. It should keep complaining a couple of times about the filter and might even stop sucking all together for a bit.
11. Do this repeatedly until it stops complaining and I'd suggest letting it just suck air for a bit once it's fixed.

That's what I had to do in order to get it working again 🤷🏽‍♂️

This is the likely solution for many, especially if you removed the mesh filter in the back cap for cleaning. Here, Dyson showed how to seat the back cap properly. What they didn't show is if the mesh filter mounted on the back cap needs to be mounted in the correct orientation. If it's not snapped into place, or is twisted in any way, the two metal contact pins on the end of mesh filter won't seat against the contact pins inside the vacuum housing. This results in the vacuum not being able to recognize that the back cap is installed and results in an error (flashing filter light). The fix: Take the cap off as shown in this video. Set your vacuum aside. Remove the mesh filter from the back cap. Identify the grooves on base of the mesh filter and match them to the grooves inside of the back cap. They are each a specific shape and length to ensure the filter snaps into place in the correct orientation. Once you snap the mesh filter onto the back cap, grab your vacuum and reinsert the back cap as shown in this video. tldr - The mesh filter is positional and needs to be mounted properly to align with contact pints inside the vacuum housing or it will not work. Amazing engineering, but may not be very user friendly.

Incase none of these comments helped you, take the entire vacuum bin off, and get a long thin instrument (I used a fajita skewer) you can use to poke up into the slits by the bottom of the inside of said bin. This is what worked for me. A lot of dander and pet hair were hidden and trapped up there. Then run your vacuum a few times until the filter sign disappears !

Filter light is on even if we just cleaned it. What do I do?

I’d like to file a petition for Dyson to allocate more of their revenue towards more of these stellar videos.

I found a massive clog at the bottom of the vacuum near the head. I disconnected the head from the arm and once that was cleaned it worked perfectly well.

Comments on the video helped me. Dyson should be ashamed and make a new video for this. It's an easy fix, but frustrating when their own content doesn't show how to fix it. Not sure If I'll consider Dyson when it comes time for my next purchase.

Does it maybe also mean I need a new filter?
