Привет товарищ, I am learning Russian i picked it up after i turned 11 during virtual. I love Russian history and culture especially gopnik culture. I got in to music last year September when I started 5th grade, i now play first trombone with middle schoolers and play trumpet and Alto sax. I am now interested in string instrument history and am planning my next move instrument wise. Balalaika seems like a logical step, it is a smallish three string instrument, that has a simple tuning.

Useful videos, just bought one these from a pawn shop for $29, not much wrong with it except it's not new (label says "made in USSR"), thanks for making it possible to play it other than like a ukulele.

There is literally no difference between C Major or C Minor in this video. If you want to make a noticeable difference in hearing the diatonic tonality of each Major and Minor chord, it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that you incorporate either the Major third or Minor third. Beginners won't know what that is, but they will, providing they learn the right things.
For example:

C Major = C (Tonic), E (major third), and G (Perfect fifth)
C Minor = C (Tonic), Eb (minor third), and G (Perfect fifth)

If you only play the tonic and the fifth you are playing an A5, or E5 depending on what your tonic note is.
This is crucial info, I'm not teasing or trying to sound like I'm some big smart-arse, I'm only stating something that must be taken into account! (y)

01:45 F here is wrong . its F7 . F is : E-1 e-5 a-3 ( hard, but real) ( if you played guitar, you would now, how this chord was built . moved e )
2:00 same wrong . its g# . Fm is : e1 e4 a3 . ( same way as F, but from em)
1:11chord is correct, but you are taking it using your fourth an third fingers, instead of second and third ( its much easier)

So 1 is thumb. I bought a second hand balalaika that seems very good, not like those souvenir ones. But the strings on it are so weird! The first is thicker than the second?
I need to restring it. I wonder what strings to get if I can't find balalaika strings?
