nixit Cup Review | It's Actually a Reusable Disc

I know. I'm gonna harp on this more than I should but the nixit cup is a reusable disc. Check the blog post linked below for a little insight into why for a history lesson. This video gets real rambly... more than usual. I'm not sure why but I had a hard time focusing; I tried to edit it into sense. I've been told people enjoy my long video style so let's go with that!

I really love nixit as a product and especially love their branding. They also recently reduced their price so it's more affordable than it was when it launched at $49. You can find it for $42 plus free shipping in the US from www.Period.Shop.

Kim, I took your quiz, and it recommended the Nixit to me. (And yes, I ordered it from your shop!) I’m on my third day of my period where I’m finally getting to use it, and it is seriously rocking my world. It apparently fits my anatomy just fine, even though it’s on the larger side, and it Does. Not. Leak. Like it’s actually kind of shocking. Every cloth pad I’ve used as back-up has been bone dry - even after heavy overnights.

But for me, the best part is how comfortable it is to wear. Even the softest cups I could find (e.g., Si-Bell) would always exacerbate my cramps on my first few days. Once I started working from home full-time I pretty much stopped wearing cups altogether, and stuck with cloth pads, so I could minimize cramping discomfort. But the Nixit has changed that! In fact, where I normally have painful cramps for the first 2-3 days, I only had cramps on the first day - and it has literally been Period Nirvana since then, because I keep forgetting I’m even on my period.

Now I’m driving everyone in my social circle crazy because I keep yelling from the proverbial mountaintop about discs and I keep pestering them to go take your quiz. Cups were already a huge step up from tampons and disposable pads, but I think I was built for discs!

If your contemplating just get it! Use lube and a plastic gloves to insert. I carry a plastic vinyl glove and lube in a zip lock bag with me. Wear a pad or party liner for backup. I forget I’m even on my period sometimes. It’s great!!

Thank you so much for your content. After 20 years of menstruating and 10 years of searching for a reliable and reusable menstrual product, I can finally say I found a comfortable, reliable and reusable menstrual product (menstrual discs). I can finally sleep a full night without a towel under me when I'm menstruating.

I have a heavy flow, a tilted uterus, a sensitive bladder and my cervix is considered high. For reference, I would change a super tampon every hour or change my menstrual cup that supposedly holds up to 50ml every 1.5-2 hrs. For this reason, I also wore a super reusable menstrual pad in case the tampon or menstrual cup overflowed and leaked... and they almost always did.

I tried several menstrual cups (Diva 1&2, Super Jennie L, Merula OS & XL and Yuuki 1 & 2), all different capacities and firmness. They all leaked because I couldn't find the right position for my tilted uterus and no matter how hard I tried, the suction holes would always clog up which caused the cups to leak. The bigger and firmer cups put too much pressure on my bladder, and I often had a UTI as a result of not being able to fully empty my bladder.

I finally tried the Nixit disc - GAME CHANGER. It is SO comfortable, I can't even feel it once it's inserted which means I also don't have any issues emptying my bladder. I have had ZERO leaks, not even at night, since I started using it a few months ago. I can wear it up to 8 hours at a time on my heavy days because of the self-emptying feature, which only happens when I purposefully bear down over the toilet.

I also use the Hey Zomi disc (52 ml capacity, 65 ml diameter) on moderate to light days because it has a loop which makes removal easier than the Nixit. The reason I don't wear it on my heavy days is because I cannot self-empty by gently bearing down over the toilet, which means I would have to manually remove it every couple hours. In Period Nirvana's review of the Hey Zomi disc, they self-emptied very frequently, but that is not the case for me.

I considered the Hello disc, but it would be too firm for me.

I HIGHLY recommend menstrual discs to anyone with a tilted uterus and a heavy flow. If you're not in a hurry to buy another product, I suggest subscribing to their newsletter and waiting for a promo code/sale.

I've been considering cups and discs for a while and as someone who has only worn pads, watching your videos recently has helped and educated me so much! I got the flex cup + disc combo since it provided both in one package, and I found the discs work amazing for me so far (especially during a kayaking trip I recently went on) but I still need practice with the cup since I'm still getting used to putting it in :)

I have the Lumma and absolutely love it! I was always a fan of cups and was so hesitant about the disc but SO glad I tried it! Such a lifesaver for my heaviest days! Thinking about picking up the nixit!

I got into discs a couple of years ago and I like them much better than cups. I’ve always had an issue with the cups suctioning in very uncomfortable positions 😰

I love nixit! It’s my favorite internal period product. Nixit+lube👌 (I can’t use nixit successfully without lube. It won’t get into place properly) I totally prefer discs over cups. Thanks to your videos I was able to discover discs. Started with the disposable Softdiscs, then tried Lumma large/high which works great too, but now nixit is my favorite disc💕

I've watched you talk about discs for HOW LONG (years) and I'm just now trying them because I got an IUD and like...why. So far I am loving it. I got some disposables, but I am almost positive that I will be switching to a disc rather than cup!

Thanks for your reviews and knowledge! I have had an IUD for a couple years now and have been using the Saalt cup the whole time. I’ve never had any problems but I always know where my strings are just in case. That being said, I’ve never had any worries!

I wish Nixit would get rid of the double rim. I find it quite difficult to clean the small crease. Otherwise, I love it and will continue to use it!

I love your videos, Kim! I find myself watching your videos every cycle! 😂 I do have some disc questions, as I am thinking about getting one, specifically Nixit since that’s my quiz result! Do discs really have more capacity than cups during wear? I currently use a Lena S & I was thinking about a higher capacity product for my heaviest days. I tried the Flex disposable (of course it’s not the same as Nixit) for a bit & it seemed kinda… squished. I also had the sensation that it was leaking when it wasn’t. Not sure if it was user error or if Flex just isn’t for me.

Thank you for your patience & all of the great content you continue to share with us!! You’re awesome!!

I live in Canada and wanted to try the Lumma because of the stem. I bought online it in the US made the delivery to a courrier service at the border and payed extra shipping to Canada since Lumma is not allowed to sell here. It came and I'm now transitioning from the menstrual cup to the menstrual disc. I made the change because I have pelvic floor disfunction and the insertion/extraction of the cup was getting painful. I feel more comfortable with Lumma now and for me it was worth the extra steps.

I absolutely love the Nixit. It does not come untucked and fits well. Never leaks. The 70 mm round diameter works well with my body. I’m very physically active, insanely tight, no kids but it works well. I have a super heavy flo on day 2 & 3. My favourite cup is the Merula XL. I also like the Flex reusable disc at 69 mm round diameter. My body can tell the smaller diameter discs and they leak. Smaller discs are not as comfortable as I can feel them. Discs are more messy but I like how quick they insert. Thanks for all your reviews. Has helped a lot. But it’s all trial and error. ❤
