Alan Silvestri - Flight of the Navigator (cover by Kebu)

The album features a collection of cover tunes of famous and less well-known instrumental synthesizer gems from the eighties. Some of the songs on the album have been part of my live repertoire for many years already, while other songs are completely new arrangements. The second single from the album is one of the new arrangements: the title theme from the movie “Flight of the Navigator”, composed by Alan Silvestri. The music was recorded using only analog synthesizers and analog drum machines:

I can’t tell you how many times I watched the first 3 minutes of dogs jumping through the air to hear the main title.

I showed my kids the movie this past weekend and then popped on Apple Music to see if Alan ever released it, and found your cover! I was moved me to tears!

Remember watching this in the cinema when it was released and loving the soundtrack: "Robot Romp" is still my favourite !
Also had a huge surprise in 2001: I was on the "Hollywood Back Lot" tour at Disney World. Saw a few cool movie props, but almost jumped out of my seat when I saw it... The original Flight Of The Navigator ship. I instantly felt like that 5 year old kid at the cinema again, I was so excited. A lot of great memories from that holiday, but I'll always remember that one.

I was fortunate enough to have this movie on VHS as a kid in the early 90's. Always loved the songs Silvestri made for it.
I'm forever grateful that they picked "Lose Your Love" by Blancmange for that MTV scene. Such a perfectly, ridiculous music video for that scene... lol
