Make vs Do | Learn English Grammar

Make vs Do! These two words cause a lot of problems for English language learners so I want to help. There are a few rules you can follow but mostly you simply need to learn when to use them by heart. For example it is 'make a mistake' not 'do a mistake'. I always learn the most interesting tidbits from you Tom! "Did you do anything AT the weekend?" If I heard someone saying this, even if they were a native speaker from the UK, I think I would probably assume it was a "verbal typo" and not a difference! Mind blowing!

American English equivalents for some of the phrases used in this video.

at the weekend = over the weekend

do the washing up = do the dishes

do an exam = take an exam

do the shopping = go shopping

do exercise = exercise
