I am debating sending in some Ohtani RCS to SGC. Nothing to high end, just some paper Topps and Topps Gallery. Never subbed with them before, but I want to get these graded and move them while Ohtani is hot.

The mailed me back a $4000 card in a small flat rate with basically no protection. They are great for vintage but there ultra modern grading I wouldn’t recommend you would be better off with csg if your looking for psa alternative.

Great grades. It’s nice to have nice cards slabbed who cares about the overall grade if it’s going into your PC.

Nice grades on all your cards. I just don't like the tuxedo slab. It just looks dreary. Black on the card just looks like death to me. Overall, great grades.

In my experience with SGC, I have noticed they are super strict on centering and do let a lot of minor stuff go. Not going to do anything with them until they lower the prices. Too much of a risk at $27 a card on the lower-mid range stuff. Would get killed on anything less than a SGC 9.5. The higher end stuff I will wait for PSA.

This question was posed to me back in Jan. "When did PSA supersede BGS as the premier grading company, and why"? I really did not have a definitive answer. I mentioned the issue with the Strasburg superfractor (2010), Pop manipulation, lower 10s than BGS, etc. What do you guys/gals think? Thanks!

The fact that people send cards from one company to the next expecting a better grade shows what’s completely wrong with sports card grading. The fact you send certain cards to certain companies expecting a better or lesser grade also proves this point.

This is obviously proof that these grades are much softer than the PSA and BGS. Not everyone on ebay realizes this, and some are listing SGC 8's calming they should be PSA 9's...
