Well I think it's harsh. Yes Luton is dull and not the most pleasant place, but you're essentially in a place with excellent proximity to London for a fraction of the price. And the town has a long history as well, it is not a soulless 'new town' like Stevenage or MK. Luton just gets a bad rep for no specific good reason - it is no worse than the likes of Stevenage or places like Grimsby. (that's NOT to say it's good, just that it isn't necessarily the worst either)

Born and lived there for 30 years. I personally saw how the town went from being a safe place to live to a town where you didn't want to go out at night and there are a lot of areas you just don't feel safe at all. My last visit, I parked in the arndale car park, walked into the shopping centre and the first thing I saw was a guy unconscious, covered in blood and people stepping over him! So sad!

Answer-yes. When I visited it for the first time, within 15 min saw a major example of road race on apparently nothing. Rubbish everywhere and whole neighbourhood's that can easily be in Pakistan. Truly well deserved

Worst journalism ever. Luton Town Centre and those who happen to walk through it is a reflection of the town? For those commenting on how they lived here 30 odd years ago and how the town has changed, stop the self loathing.

No, it's still slough, especially stoke poges where the chavs have taken over and the local co-op has been robbed numerous times.

Its the worst place to live in terms of the state of properties, the amount of people on hard drugs smoking in public, the main occupations being prostitution, drugdealer and Amazon . People from luton all seem to get onit with their parents and its normal to do that . Its a completely different world and its crazy !! The crime rate isnt as high as other places but thats cus its a small town and wouldbt even be the equivalent of one borough in say London or something so its not a proper comparison in that aspect . But anythings a go in Luton its the norm

I mean it is a alright place to live in its not the best and not the worst I live in luton and i think the only reason why it has been voted the worst is because of the shopping centres here all the good shops have gone out of business and other shops dont even stock up on latest fashion they only keep the old ones so whenever i go shopping i go out of Lotun to another shopping mall.

As a Dutch Moroccan i lived for a year in Luton, ( 2018) and to be honest i really loved it. Maybe because there is a big North African Community over there. I specially loved Bury Park.
