The UN Secretary-General's Call to Action on Extreme Heat brings together the diverse expertise and perspectives of ten specialized UN entities (FAO, ILO, OCHA, UNDRR, UNEP, UNESCO, UN-Habitat, UNICEF, WHO, WMO) in a first-of-its-kind joint product, underscoring the multi-sectoral impacts of extreme heat.

Earth is becoming hotter and more dangerous for everyone, everywhere. Billions of people around the world are wilting under increasingly severe heatwaves driven largely by a fossil-fuel charged, human-induced climate crisis. Extreme heat is tearing through economies, widening inequalities, undermining the Sustainable Development Goals, and killing people. 

The Call for Action calls for an urgent and concerted effort to enhance international cooperation to address extreme heat in four critical areas:  Caring for the vulnerable - Protecting workers - Boosting resilience of economies and societies using data and science - Limiting temperature rise to 1.5°C by phasing out fossil fuels and scaling up investment in renewable energy.

Surprisingly, heat is the main subject of the UN today because European countries are under extreme weather events. Africa, Asia were under severe flooding or heat for many years. Now, the UN has woken up 💤💤💤

نحن منهمكين في سلسلة جلسات وقمم وبيانات ومؤتمرات والتصريحات وقرارات لا تعد ولا تحصى! ولا بداية ولا نهاية لها!

لأن كل ما يتوجب علينا فعله هو التمسك بجلساتنا وقممنا فقط! هدا ما نستطيع فعله!

جميع مجالسنا ووكالاتنا ومنظماتنا وجمعياتنا عليها أن تتمسك بالجلسات والقمم والبيانات والمطالبات والتنديدات والاستنكارات والمناشدات والمطالبات والحذيرات فقط!

ولا يهم أما عصابات وفلول واشنطن ولندن، ستحترمها وتنفذها ام لا!

كل ما نعرفه هو مهمتنا تنحصر في الجلسات والقمم والبيانات والمطالبات والتنديدات والاستنكارات والمناشدات والمطالبات والتحذرات فقط!

ولا نستطيع ان نذخل في مواجهة مباشرة مع عصابات وفلول واشنطن ولندن! لأن هده العصابات والفلول، مسلحة بأسلحة ونحن مسلحين بما يعرف باسم القوانين والتشريعات والمعاريف والاتفاقيات والبنود الدولية!

The wind of change is in the air there is hope for diplomacy with Kamala Harris and the US is blessed with men who have brilliant minds like Col. Douglas MacGregor, and Professor Jeffrey Sachs just to name a few. Who knows? We may see better days for the human race on the horizon. I will keep my fingers crossed.
