Thing is it is always best to do research on a vehicle before purchase. Lot of times you can get a steal on a simple fix that was deemed terminal. With these engines it is recomended by dodge to replace the lifters every 80, 000 miles but as they get passed down the knowledge of this gets lost like those civilizations we cant seem to explain. Any 4.7 over 80, 000 miles needs this done and a fair mechanic can do this in a half a day. Also you can examine rocker arms for any play from the roller just in case or just replace them while your there. With proper maintenance these engines will last a very long time and are well built. No engine is perfect and this is its major upkeep. Race ready engine from the factory.

You need a lash adjuster ( lifter ) or it will do it again.

Wow. I get crap for having a 5.4 3v but the only problem with them in really they need constant oil changes or a better oil pump. This 4.7 motor just has shitty lifters, roller followers, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the valve springs aren’t stiff enough.

Wrong! You have a collapsed lifter thus being loose allowing the roller to pop out of place.
