Change the output color depth to 10 bit if your monitor can handle it.
That makes a difference, I found that my old 4k 60hz 10bit TN panel has way better color than my 1440p 165hz 8 bit IPS which is a little weird, So much for IPS being better.

Thanks man, great video! To the point, not super long intros or outros, no super long plugs, no fake giveaways, no extra fluff to get to 10 minutes. You sir, are a real one.

I did this a week ago and omg it was like a new screen. I have a 27" IPS 1440p BenQ monitor and the colors were always great but I was in the Nvidia control panel one day just messing around and decided to try this out and couldn't believe the difference. Good Vid.

Thank you very much. I have had this computer for 3 years and just now realized how bad the banding was when I was trying to watch DUNE 2 on HBO MAX and the colors/banding were terrible. Great video!

The first setting only affects video players, and not recommended to override unless you know the content type and know the system is incorrectly detecting it. However, this won't necessarily give you a "more accurate" picture for videos either, it depends on the kind of video content you're viewing. SD and other content are mastered in limited dynamic range and forcing them to full may result in a worse picture (incorrect blacks and inaccurate color tints mainly), largely because the content was mastered with 16 being black and 235 being white, there isn't any data above and below that range that was expected to be shown. Changing this setting isn't needed 99% of the time anyways as the automatic setting is able to detect the type of dynamic range of the video by the meta flags that exist in the video encoding, and thus this really should be left to 'automatic' in the Nvidia control panel, giving your video player the control over the proper range. Even still, if your video player is incorrectly detecting it, they generally have the range option in their settings, which is preferable to a global Nvidia control panel override. In other words, this is bad advice. Let your video player handle the range itself. As for the second setting, the general PC desktop video output... PC's are full range video output devices by default. Thus, it is pointless to change the settings from automatic to custom to then manually specify the exact same settings automatic was choosing. It is only in the rarest of circumstances when your EDID sent incorrect information to Nvidia's drivers that you would need to override the automatic setting.
In general, do not worry about changing these settings. If you're interested in a better picture and your display supports HDR, then I'd look at enabling HDR which gives a higher bit (10-12 bits) dynamic range versus the old 8 bit, further it will enable higher bit rate colors as well, giving access to an expanded color gamut range. However, keep in mind that you may need to alter the display calibration or use an HDR mode on your display, otherwise your black levels will be incorrect.
