Who's still watching this, 7 years later? : ) satisfying!

He is so selfless that he almost gets overlooked in the greatness of this band...but Bryan Devendorf is perhaps the biggest reason their music is so magical. His subtle textures and syncopated grooves are an indelible part of their song structures. They are simple at first glance but have just the right amount of embellishments and accents to keep them fresh and exciting. Lets all raise a glass to their amazing drummer....

Dear lord this is one of the greatest performances of all time. In Mr. November he wanders into the crowd as they feed the mic cable to him. While he sings, "I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders, " the crowd picks him up and carries him.

Matt:*Drops microphone*
Matt:*Drags microphone by the cable to pick it up banging everything in sight*
Matt: "Graceless..."

I've seen The National four times now. So it's crazy to me that this only came out in 2017. Because I only got into them through this very video. It just got recommended to me one day, I scrubbed through it and I was hooked. Not instantly but I kept coming back to it. I ended up downloading this and listening to it obsessively for weeks every morning on my commute before buying Trouble Will Find Me on vinyl. My first The National record and to this day probably still my favourite. I almost ended up paying $250 to see them live that year but luckily got away with paying a scalper $50. It was an amazing show. Whenever I face heartbreak, I put on Trouble Will Find Me and I feel like Matt is talking about exactly what I'm going through. Their music's not lost their magic for me, not after hundreds, probably thousands of re-listens. "I'm not alone / I'll never be / ... / When they ask / What do I see / I say a bright, white, beautiful heaven hanging over me"

this was one of the greatest performances I've ever watched. Not even singing wise.. Just the way he interacts with the crowd and throws his emotions out like Bruce Lee punches... God.. I cant even describe the feeling this entire performance gave me. It literally brings you through ups and downs.. A complete rollercoaster ride!

Back for the trillionth time. This has been a favorite band of mine for the past 15+ years and they just keep getting more and more astonishing! So fortunate to have seen them live, and looking forward to many more live performances to come!

I watched this when it streamed live and I’ve watched it regularly for the past five years.

I use it to relive the two times I’ve seen them live until I get a chance to do so again.

The climax of this set with is pure musical joy for all when Matt joins the crowd; then the singalong, lights on the crowd Vanderlyle with bumping fists and finishing without the mic. It's beautiful to watch, brings a tear to the eye

Once I bumped into Matt accidentally after a gig in Vienna. The only thing I could think of saying was: "was the cable long enough?"
He said they always test it before the show.
It was fun.

I think my favorite part of this whole thing was that moment at 1:35:23 when the intro has been building and building, and then you hear those familiar notes start and you can just feel the energy of the audience... It always gives me chills.
