I drive a hydrogen car in California and yes you can leave your car fueling while you go and grab a drink and chips if I want to. It fuels in about 5 min or so just like fueling a conventional gas car .

We WOULD'VE been there if car companies didn't shut the idea down decades ago. They know exactly what they did set us back.

I remember hydrogen technology 30yrs ago. We could be driving hydrogen cars now but that would destroy the oil business.

I cant wait for this to become the future fuel

High temperature nuclear fission reactors could provide hydrogen nearly free of cost.

“Truck builders including Daimler, Volvo, Toyota and Hyundai, like Nikola, see hydrogen as a better option for electric trucks than batteries as they aren’t as heavy and can be refueled more rapidly.” — Forbes
Actually, hydrogen is a better option for cars as well. For starters, there won’t be enough fast-charging stations to go around — not when you consider the millions of battery cars about to hit the road. And since it takes about half an hour to fast-charge battery cars, it’s not hard to see that there’ll be waiting lines and hot tempers.
Meanwhile, hydrogen cars can slip into truck hydrogen stations, fill-up and be on their way in less than 10 minutes.
This advantage alone is sure to make battery cars the biggest booster of hydrogen cars.
Nor will the charging headaches go away with better batteries. All batteries — no matter how good or cheap they might get — would still need to be charged — by drawing power through wires from our anemic electric grid.

$36 dollars per kilogram right now in California, way too expensive to fill up cars right now. The price must come down

We need this instead of those stupid batteries.

Not mentioned is the hydrogen fuel pumps are much nicer to use than the current petrol and diesel one’s

I've been hearing the news about Australia's hydrogen energy development since seven years ago, yet it still can't replace fossil fuels. I think space-based solar panel technology will be more feasible in the near future

Hydrogen never worked so far. But it’s good to try to give EVs a competition.

Why is the news asking questions instead of reporting?

There is ZERO infrastructure to produce, store, transport and distribute it to the public vs electricity which is already EVERYWHERE on the planet including yours and my homes. Let me know when I can fuel up at home. My EV charging at home costs me whopping $372 per year. Planes and big industrial needs MAYBE. cars nope

America has so much geothermal that's just sitting there as a tourist attraction, it's trully a sad state.

They had me laughing--the "regional jet" had props.

Hydrogen is an energy transfer medium, not a source of energy. Hydrogen does not exist naturally like oil, coal, and gas, and producing it requires an input of energy equal to or greater than the amount derived from it. Liquefying it requires even more. If that energy comes from renewables, fine. But the mix of renewables and fossil fuels won't change, meaning that as things stand now the emission of CO2 is merely shifted to another place.
