I'm Filipino and I really admire these people for their unique trait and sticking with their traditions, specifically because most people who live close to the sea use bombs for fishing (like i swear those people have no patience. other people fish for a living and they dont disrespect the ocean like that, even when at desperate times)

My great grandma is one of these people, but she was also "landed" and come from the city of Cebu.

Badjao are also in Indonesia and Malaysia but they live more modern lives, not nomadic or tied to making a living from the sea in dangers

I watched a documentary they can hold their breath for around 5 minutes if they are lucky.. good swimmers yes but thats about it..

None of that happens because of who they are it happens because of what they do. Nothing unique in their genetics. That doesn't take away from there unique lifestyle however.
