Honda are and have always been a very reliable car brand. Sure it'll have some problems but what car doesn't. Overall the Civic is fantastic

I wouldn't buy the smallest engine size in almost any car these days.
In ths case the 1l is just ok but very annoying on the highway the 1.5 is the best engine for this car imo.

A really well balanced review for the benefit of families with youngsters concentrating on the car's practicality and value for money.

The only thing I don't like is that it's not a small (ish) car anymore. Over the previous 2 generations (so from gen 8, which I currently have) they seem to have really increased in size. Gen 7's look small when comparing them. Sadly this seems to be common in a lot of cars these days.

In my country, the civic doesn’t need to be good enough for you
You need to be rich/good enough to have a Civic 😂

I have the 2017 hatchback and My infotainment screen works normal 🤷🏽‍♀️ and I love that it's 40 mpg. It saves more gas than my old Honda Fit!

Just got a 1.5 Turbo love this car, I use Apple play no issues. Flys and a lot of headroom for 6”1 person in the back

Interesting car. I wonder if the bad fuel economy is perhaps the result of a tiny turbocharged engine? I know that most other manufacturers that have gone to tiny turbocharged engines (Hyundai, Ford, etc) have had problems with customers not getting good fuel economy. I know from driving turbo engines over the years it’s tough to keep your foot out of the turbo and tiny displacement and a ten second 0-10 only makes it that more necessary—compared to many large displacement normally aspirated engines we have here in Canada on large vehicles which return similar fuel economy figures whether driven hard or easy thanks to tall gear ratios and no boost.

I’ve just bought the 9th gen 1.6 idtec, all performance specs better and I get 66 plus mpg! I was a lifelong petrol man....it’s a shame that diesel is getting a bad rap, now, thanks to VW. Mine probably doesn’t handle as well, but it has the superb magic rear seats.

My guess about the lower-than-hoped for fuel economy is that the smaller 1.0 engine has to work harder than the larger engine.

Great review over 6 months. Starting to like the look of it after I hated it. Don't think I could live with that infotainment screen though, what a shame.

I have a CR-V and this January wanted something else for a change. First returned home with a Nissan Pathfinder, but it didn't leave much space in the garage. So I returned it and bought the Honda hatch Sport Touring instead. It is indeed a bit smaller.
40 miles/gallon "pretty annoying?" Ha ha.... Europe is funny... God bless America!
