This guy that made this is a genius, Although I am not a fan of the driving position, it is clear that the riders are struggling for control especially when there is gravel. I can imagine he has no plans on improving the riding position after all of this work, very impressive on how it is packable.

I can't believe how negative people are to new ideas...I hope it's a success and that you guys become great innovators

In most of our target markets helmets are not worn by cyclists. We don't wear when testing as we have NEVER hit the ground. You are only ever going the speed of running and can just step off the front. The YikeBike has safety features that most bikes dont have, electronic anti-skid brakes, build in lights, indicators and brake lights, speed limited.

Not having handle bars in front of you is in our view much safer because there are no handle bars to go flying over in an emergency.

I notice that some of the testing was done just up the road from where I live...typically poor condition roads in Christchurch...even before all the earthquakes! I saw some of these things cruising around Hagley Park last Summer...I really like the look of them

Very similar to a normal bike - it pays to watch out for big pot holes. I've certainly been avoiding a few in San Francisco today! But it is no problem going around or slowing down.

The point is not to show it is better than a bike but to show it in comparison to something people are familiar with. The point is to also show that the YikeBike can easily handle city commuting

We are likely to be offering the option of additional batteries but it really designed for short journeys. Yes groceries can go in backpack too.

Great Idea! It may be take a while to get control over handling the bike and mantaining a straight upperbody in order not to damage your back.

@WeRWun it's not supposed to be a competition but to show the YikeBike performance relative to something that people are familiar with.

Would like to see heaver duty tires as well as some sort of suspension on this thing - especially for the asking price.

Nice demos of an interesting vehicle. It would have been good to have a demo of it folding in there as well.
I was surprised how loud the gears were, is that normal?
When they get the price down around $500 I would be interested.

Yes - very powerful so you can go up hills and accelerate quickly but speed limited for safety

Классный велик. Только что посмотрел о нем на Discovery. 25 км в час, вес маленький, складывается АКБ заряжается за полчаса. Интересно сколько стоит?

If it runs out of batteries, is it easy to charge at power points outdoors?
