I lived in Nigeria till I left at 31, now I am 41 and waiting till my son heads to college in about 9 years time. I am going back to Nigeria immediately he does. Make sure when going to Nigeria you have your plans set out so you don’t struggle. I bought lands in Nigeria, and started cocoa and palm farming, which takes an average of 4-5 years to start harvest. Make sure you have a plan A and B before moving

As a Nigerian living in Nigeria, I love Nigeria❤. Just that prices of commodities are high. If you have money in Nigeria, you would love Nigeria more than any country in the world

This my comment is for some of you who is deciding to come to Nigeria because of this video. Please think well o. You dont know her background. Her pedigree. If your mom and dad are very wealthy and dont mind supporting you financially, please come back to Nigeria. If you can earn in dollars while in nigeria, please come back. If not stay back and build yourself o. Soft living will be hell if you dont have any of these. Dont let anyone lie to you. Most people you all see on social media enjoying soft life, have families abroad, their dads are stinkingly rich. So they have access to money. Some have citizenships already. They can run to the abroad and work for 3 months, then come baack to Nigeria to spend the dollars(they do this regularly) . Earning in naira and spending in Nigeria wont give you soft life o. Make sure you have an high income skill o. If its business you want to start, bear in mind that the purchasing power of Nigerians are low. Good luck. No say we no give una update o.

Hi Kelechi, the best advice would be to get a remote US job and then move to Nigeria, not before. This will set you up to have the softest life in Nigeria. Good luck.

Edit - Answering some questions in comments
Power Solution - Growatt PV Inverter with solar panels and the cheapest battery you can find. A budget of N1.5m will give you uninterrupted power from 8am to 8pm. Instead of buying a Mac for 3m.
VPN - Not required, always be transparent, you chose remote due to lifestyle.
Jobs - Easy - Data centre, call centre support, product support. Writer/contributor
Hard - Toptal, Andela basically tech.
Most important tip - Google search preferred role always add remote. Global or WAT remote. You don't have to use a remote hiring agency (crossover, Andela), they take a percentage of your payment. Hope I helped.

You are wise. People don't realize quality of life includes family, social, emotional, mental, physical, etc. Its not just about working to see some dollars, which you don't actually see; because you are working around the clock, no time or opportunity to meet a good partner, everyone out to hustle/use you in some way, family ties weak, bills every second, no life. Everything scheduled and not natural. I get you dear.

25 years in the UK and I made the move back to Nigeria recently. No regret whatsoever.

Plan, get a decent job and you'll be fine.

All the best.

I moved back for the same reasons and as a mum, the support is unmatched. Just make sure you find a way to earn $$ while living in Nigeria. Earning naira won’t fund that soft life!

What you said is absolutely correct ….. and support you on your decision .

I personally live half and half in USA and COLOMBIA 🇨🇴

But after this year going full time in Colombia 🇨🇴 …. Especially after everything that is happening in America today . Just waiting on my Colombian Residency . I’m also embarrassed by the worsening racism in my country . I’m sure your decision is a wise move . Thanks for knowing my country before it became broken . My heart is with you and pray that you will always be safe and blessings with happiness .

Dear Kelechi,

We're thrilled to hear that you're considering relocating back to Nigeria! You'll find that many Nigerian companies actively seek foreign-educated graduates, so your international experience will be a valuable asset in the job market.

In addition to exploring traditional employment opportunities, you may also want to consider remote work options. Many companies now offer online positions that can provide a sense of stability and routine as you settle back into life in Nigeria.

Lastly, starting a side hustle can be a great way to leverage your skills, pursue your passions, and earn some extra income. Whatever path you choose, we're confident that you'll excel.

Looking forward to welcoming you back home!

Best regards...

Your suggestion encapsulates it well, Nigeria is basically a place that becomes whatever you make of it, it is an unstructured place, so if you’re looking for barren land to start something it will heaven for you, if on the other hand you’re organized and want systems that work like clockwork hmmm prepare oOoo there is fetching of water and its other relatives like power outages, that’s why most Nigerians are very independent, who knows it may evolve into a system in the future. For some like I said this is a positive and to others a negative, anyhow you see na so. So welcome home in advance girl we we Dey. And for the many out there flying the flag 🇳🇬 (from the Japa community to the born there community to the married AKA our Naija wives and husbands community) keep up the hustle wey dey pray for unna, and please always pray for home too.

Nigeria and many other African and Caribbean countries keep the social and family life very alive. There are many other disadvantages of course in Nigeria but that support if you're from a good family cannot be replaced. Just make sure you're earning in dollars and you'll be quite fine in Nigeria.

Don’t do it. If you are feeling overwhelmed by American lifestyle, visit Nigeria, spend 6 months to heal yourself (I know America can be draining)..Heal yourself for 6 months, then go back to American. Do not move back to nigeria permanently. I tried it, and I would NOT recommend.

Needless to say, I ended up moving back to the US after 5 years.

You are a beautiful young lady so I hope you don’t make such mistake, however if you do decide to go through with it after all, I hope your experience is much better than mine was. Take care
